Communication Council members Joy Wise and Alanna Moody had the opportunity to attend today's Hard Hat Tour and Information-Sharing Event at the future Frederick Youth Center and left truly inspired. Touring the space at 300 Scotty's Bus Lane and hearing the vision for young people ages 12–24, it was clear that the collaboration, passion, and commitment to Frederick's youth are something special.

A huge thank you to the incredible young people at the Frederick Youthcouncil for their work to make this happen! Your dedication is truly inspiring!

This center is going to make a real difference and it wouldn't be possible without the generous support of the Ausherman Family Foundation, Frederick County Government, MD, and The City of Frederick. We can't wait to see it come to life!

We've already shared about President Camille N. Johnson's visit to Maryland, but we couldn't resist sharing a few behind-the-scenes looks!

From a tour of the U.S. Naval Academy and meaningful conversations with midshipmen, to uplifting gatherings with youth, local leaders, and women across the region, it was a visit full of faith, service, and inspiration.

We are so grateful to everyone who participated and helped create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We loved hearing from President Johnson and from fellow Marylander, Eme Martin who serves on the Relief Society General Advisory Council. These experiences strengthen our faith and remind us of our shared purpose.

Organized in 1842, the Relief Society is the women's organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Now, over eight million members of the Relief Society provide temporal and spiritual relief to our sisters and brothers around the world. Jesus Christ is the source of our relief.

Earlier this month, General Relief Society President Camille N. Johnson made a memorable visit to Maryland! She met with Governor Wes Moore to discuss expanding service opportunities and strengthening communities across the state. Governor Moore, already familiar with JustServe.org, a free website that connects volunteers with local service opportunities, shared his vision for growing participation statewide. He summed it up simply: "Service is something we believe to our core."

President Johnson also visited the United States Naval Academy, where she toured and ministered to Latter-day Saint midshipmen. And we in the Frederick congregations were so grateful to host her for devotionals. Women and youth from Frederick and surrounding areas gathered to hear her speak.

The Relief Society is the women's organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicated to fostering spiritual strength and improving the welfare of our sisters and brothers around the world. Organized in 1842, it is more than 8 million women strong today.

This Sunday, our congregations join Latter-day Saints all over the United States for a special 5th-Sunday lesson on religious freedom. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, we're invited to pause and give thanks. This lesson "is not a history lesson or a political discussion. It's an opportunity to rejoice in 'the Lord our God, who has redeemed us and made us free'" (see Alma 58:41).

And this freedom isn't just for us as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joseph Smith declared:

"I am bold to declare before Heaven that I am just as ready to die in defending the rights of a Presbyterian, a Baptist, or a good man of any other denomination; for the same principle which would trample upon the rights of the Latter-day Saints would trample upon the rights of the Roman Catholics, or of any other denomination who may be unpopular and too weak to defend themselves."

Religious liberty is a blessing for ALL of God's children. All are welcome to join us this Sunday, May 31! Find a chapel near you: churchofjesuschrist.org/welcome/find-a-church

A discussion guide and resources are available in Gospel Library under Books and Lessons β†’ Religious Freedom. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/books-and-lessons/religious-freedom?lang=eng

We are so grateful for Dr. Wayne Allgaier and the many lives he and his wonderful family have blessed through a lifetime of service!

Frederick Magazine recently featured Dr. Allgaier, shining a spotlight on the rich history of Brunswick, where he has practiced medicine and served the community for many years caring for patients throughout Brunswick and across the county.

In the article, Dr. Allgaier shares a bit about his opportunity to serve alongside Mission of Mercy and Brunswick Beacon, two wonderful organizations doing incredible work in our community.

Beyond his medical service, Dr. Allgaier and his family have also given their time in service through missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and we are proud to call him a beloved member of our Brunswick congregation.

What a beautiful example of a life dedicated to healing and service. Read the full article here: https://www.frederickmagazine.com/articles/talking-history-dr-wayne-allgaier

Decades before Brunswick, MD ’s current revitalization, Dr. Wayne Allgaier and his wife Vicki arrived in town to establish a medical practice and a place to raise their children. Some 50 years later, his contributions to Brunswick and Frederick County are immeasurable, whether in the form of patient house calls that he made until his retirement or in significant public service that he continues to this day.
