Frederick Friends Meeting is a Quaker community brought together to know God and to answer that of God in everyone. We welcome people of all ages, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, and faith backgrounds. Wo

rship is the foundation of our community life. It is also the best way to get to know us. We base our faith on our own experiences of the divine. We seek to experience God directly, within ourselves and in our relationships with others and the world around us. Our focus is on our experience rather than the written statements of belief. Our community is based on sharing a powerful form of silent worship and a set of concerns for simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship. This leads us to translate our faith into action by working for social justice, supporting peacemakers, and caring for the environment. The Quaker way has its roots in Christianity and finds inspiration in the Bible and the life and teachings of Jesus. Quakers also find meaning and value in the teachings of other faiths; we acknowledge that ours is not the only way.

Lets get back to our roots with a reading from George Fox that includes the well known phrase: "There Is an Ocean of Darkness, and an Infinite Ocean of Light and Love". It is from his journal. In a message on the web site "The Daily Quaker Message" there were thoughts of many Quakers to seed our thinking in the worship.

If you have a reading, quote, section in Faith & Practice (or any source!) that speaks to you -- please bring it and suggest it as an alternative or for another Wednesday!

Please find attached the invitation to the May 31st Regional Gathering of Friends. This month is hosted by Shepherdstown Meeting. It is being held at the China House at Friends Wilderness Center, Rolling Ridge Conservatory. This is the same property where Opequon Quaker Camp is now homed.

Worship begins at 10:00. Please try to arrive by 9:45 so you don't feel rushed. Plan to stay and explore afterwards if you can.
