Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and scribes several times for keeping traditions instead of following God's Word.
There have been so many fractions of denominations and even the Catholic Church has had so many additions to doctrine and "tradition" since Christ and the Apostles and even since the Bible has been written.
I believe the Bible is the true, preserved Word of God. And because it is. We can take it, without the sway of tradition, and just believe what the Bible says to please God.
Rev 4:11 says, "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, AND FOR THY PLEASURE they are and were created."
Everything, including us, is here for God's pleasure. That is our job. And because of what He has done for me, that's what I want to do. And I don't want the slant of man to mess me up in getting that accomplished.
Only the Bible can point me in the right direction. God preserved the Bible, His Word, to do just that. That is the basic fundamental of my Christian belief, built upon the Rock and Foundation that is Jesus Christ.
