Trade Lake Swedish Mission Church

Trade Lake Swedish Mission Church Trade Lake Swedish Mission Church was built in 1890. The church and cemetery still stand on the original spot overlooking the Town. Trustees were J.P. Hoglund.

The building has been restored with light and heat and still hosts a summer picnic and an old-fashioned Christmas Program. The Swedish Mission Church was organized by J.O. Forsberg and a group of Swedish immigrants in September 13, 1886. Gustafson, J.O. Forsberg, and E. Land for the church was purchased in October of that same year from Gust Wedin for $15.00. $200 was borrowed from The American C

ongregational Building Society of New York City to build the church and was to be paid back over a period of 20 years by annual collection. The congregation did not meet regularly but it was well known that Mr. Forsberg had the largest Sunday School program in the area and directed the best Christmas Program around which was called "Christmas Fest in the Mission House."

This year there will not be a July service or a September music service. Instead we will have a worship service on August 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.with a potluck dinner immediately following. We are planning to have music in the afternoon with apple crisp and ice cream following the program.
Pastor Emory Johnson from New Hope Lutheran will lead our worship service. There will also be a children’s group providing some music during the service. There will be more information posted soon.
