I am sure we know of someone who we have not seen for a while. Perhaps their sickness has prevented their church attendance. It is wonderful and pleasing to God you are praying for this person. Does this person have a phone, a mailing address or live close? It is your turn to let them personally know you are praying and thinking of them.
I personally know my church, friends and family have been with me through the last couple of years. Sickness is hard and lonely and they need to know you are with them .—Brenda Hudson

What is God asking you to do?

Prepare for a Blessing!

“Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there.”
‭‭II Kings‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The Shunammite woman used her influence and resources to prepare a room for the prophet Elisha. Her heart’s desire was to bless the man of God, but little did she know that she was also preparing for her own long-awaited blessing!

The month of October is dedicated to Clergy Appreciation. Many congregations set aside time during their services to honor and appreciate their pastor. These men of God, along with their wives and families, have dedicated their lives to serving the church and the people of God. Honoring them is a worthy and godly practice that brings glory to the Lord. When we bless those who serve Him, we position ourselves to experience the blessings that come through obedience and generosity.

I’ve often marveled at the way God works! In another biblical account, a prophet asked a widow to prepare food for him during a famine. She had almost nothing left, yet the prophet instructed her to feed him first. From a human perspective, this may have seemed unreasonable. But her faith and obedience resulted in a miracle: her limited supply of flour and oil sustained her and her household throughout the famine!

The Shunammite woman and the widow had something in common: they were willing to give God what they had, even when they could not see what He had in store for them.

As women, we often have opportunities to recognize needs and use our influence to make a difference. The Shunammite woman recognized an opportunity to bless the man of God and shared her idea with her husband. Together, they prepared a room for Elisha. In time, God blessed them with a son, something they had long desired but had not dared to expect.

I believe God desires to bless His people! Sometimes, however, the blessing comes disguised as an opportunity to serve, a prompting to give, or an instruction that requires us to step out in faith. God sees our hearts, and our response to His direction reveals our willingness to trust Him. When we obey His Word and follow His leading, we make room in our lives for His purposes to unfold.

This morning, my prayer is that God will continue to speak to my heart and that I will walk in obedience to Him. I know that His goodness extends far beyond anything I could ever earn or deserve, but I must be willing to prepare room for whatever He desires to do in my life.

Like the Shunammite woman who prepared a room and the widow who obediently gave what little she had, may we be willing to respond in faith when God calls us to give, serve, and obey.

What is God asking you to prepare today? Perhaps it’s a room, an offering, a helping hand, a willing heart, or simply a step of faith. Whatever He asks of you, trust Him with the outcome.
Make room for obedience, make room for service, and prepare for a blessing!
