Today we celebrate the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, our Queen in Heaven. 🌌

Prayer to Mary Assumed into Heaven

Feast Day — August 15

O Blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of God and our loving Mother,
on this glorious feast of your Assumption,
we rejoice that you were taken body and soul
into the glory of Heaven.

You who faithfully followed Jesus
through joy, suffering, and the Cross,
teach us to trust completely in God’s loving plan.

Intercede for us, dear Mother,
and bring our prayers before your Son, Jesus.
Protect our families and loved ones,
comfort those who are suffering,
heal the sick, and strengthen those who have lost hope.

Help us to live with faith and purity,
to persevere in prayer,
and to keep our hearts focused on Heaven.

Mary, assumed into Heaven,
guide us closer to Jesus
and obtain for us the grace
to remain faithful until the end of our lives.

Our Lady Assumed into Heaven, pray for us.

Yesterday, Legion of Mary - Immaculate Conception had the honor of visiting Connie and presenting a mass card for her 104th birthday. This is what she told us:
1. She talks to God as she falls asleep each night
2. One of her favorite things is coming out of mass on a Sunday
3. Things change. She is grateful for the wonderful daughter and husband she had in life, and her new life with her friends at Westwind.
4. She wears her cross everyday.

We enjoy spending time with Connie during Rosary each month that is held at Westwind. God Bless Connie!

Faithful near and far are invited to draw inspiration from St. Francis of Assisi and gain a plenary indulgence by making prayerful pilgrimages to any of five designated St. Francis-related parishes in the Paterson Diocese, N.J., until Jan. 10, 2027.

On Jan. 10, 2026, Pope Leo decreed that the Universal Church would commemorate the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’ death, which ends next Jan. 10. The decree also provides for a special plenary indulgence for parishes associated with the saint. A plenary indulgence is remission of temporal punishment that may remain after sacramental confession.

On April 29, Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney issued a decree designating the five parishes in the diocese where pilgrims are able to avail themselves of a plenary indulgence.

These parishes are St. Francis of Assisi in the Haskell neighborhood of Wanaque, N.J.; St. Mary’s Parish in Pompton Lakes, N.J.; St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Butler, N.J.; St. Clare Parish in Clifton, N.J., and St. John Kanty Parish in the Athenia neighborhood of Clifton.
