What does it mean to belong?

I can imagine that stirs up either warm or uncomfortable feelings depending on the experiences throughout your life.

In the book of Ruth we read of an outsider whose life was redeemed for great good. Whether you are walking in confidence in your belonging or you are in a season of feeling alone, join us at our fall Bible study on Tuesday mornings or Wednesday nights as we study Ruth’s story and learn how we are redeemed and so dearly loved.

The book of the Bible we will be studying for 8 weeks beginning next Tuesday, January 16th, is Joshua!

Studying God’s word in community changes things. Any of us can sit at home and read our Bible and grow in knowledge. But when we study face to face, we learn things we could never learn alone - in our heads and our hearts.

So whether you have a theology degree or you just got your first Bible this week, we want you to know that this is a place for you to come and be encouraged by digging into God’s word together!

DR Day 6
We flew home late last night and were very sad to be leaving all of our new friends. Sure, we will welcome a warm shower, but we left with incredibly grateful hearts.

Donna felt the love from all of the gifts that you purchased for her. We got to visit her new apartment and deliver them personally. Donna lived in a very small space for 3 years on the Josiah’s campus and only recently relocated to a space above the new Hope Continues homes. It is a blessing and we are thrilled to be able to give her some much needed items.

We had one last fun evening taking the Hope Continues kids out to dinner! They are all over 18, but still need to finish their schooling while living in a safe, family environment. They are all amazing and so much fun!

We love you, Donna and Julio! You are the picture of a servant heart overflowing with love for others. We were so honored to be a part of your lives this week. ❤️❤️❤️

DR Day 5
If you would like a wake up call to start your week, these kiddos have never had individual Christmas trees in the host homes here on the Josiah’s House campus.
Let that soak in as you (and I ) pull out our endless bins of Christmas decor!

We did not want to leave until trees and decor were purchased for each house and trees were put up. Even though we were putting up decor until 10pm multiple nights in a row!

These are memories we (and I hope they) will never forget. I wish we could post the hours of dance parties we had with them but I’m not tech-y enough to block faces for an entire video!

DR Day 4
Wow! The ladies from the villages and all their children arrived around 10am yesterday. The buses were packed to the ceiling it seemed. We filled their stomachs first with a breakfast snack and then headed to the chapel for worship to begin.

The theme of the conference was Escogida (Chosen) For Such a Time as This. The book of Esther taught us how to ask two questions: Do you believe that you are chosen, adored, precious? And do you believe that God is working in the background of your life even if you can’t see Him. What I heard them say they walked away with was strengthening their belief that God has a plan for their life! 🎉

Every single thing you provided from the table cloths to the colored pencils were cherished yesterday. They felt incredibly loved AND fed! We sent them home with enough food to feed them for a week- 10 days and they were thrilled with that and the simple washcloth and soap! Things they desperately needed and wanted!

Thank you for helping us love them well!! It was an incredibly fruitful day.
