Today is Doodle Dog Day. I have a mini-golden doodle named Destiny Snuggles. Desi is around 7 years old and weighs around 35 pounds. Desi is 1/2 poodle, 1/4 golden retriever and 1/4 mini- poodle or something like that.

Desi is my friendly, adorable, very bright companion. She is my constant little friend.

Christianity was never meant to be reduced to religious traditions, ceremonies, or an intellectual agreement with a set of doctrines. Jesus came to give us life, and that life is found in a living relationship with God through the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul declared, “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power” (1 Corinthians 4:20). He also warned against those who have “a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof” (2 Timothy 3:5). There is a tremendous difference between knowing about God and knowing Him personally. The same Holy Spirit who moved in the Book of Acts is still at work today, transforming lives, empowering believers, and demonstrating the reality of the risen Christ. We were never called to settle for powerless religion when Jesus promised rivers of living water flowing from within those who believe (John 7:38–39). Christianity is not merely something to profess; it is a life to be lived in the presence and power of God.

My heart is heavy as I just received word that our dear friend and disciple of Jesus, Joel Staab, passed away this afternoon at 2:25 PM. His brother, Mark Staab, was with him in his room in a hospital in Clarksville, TN, holding his hand and praying with him.

Joel was a prophetic prayer missionary whose ministry was named “Wing and a Prayer.” He primarily ministered in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, some in Poland, Denmark and Austria. He also lived in Mozambique working with Iris Ministries there.

Joel lived with my family in a basement room of our farm house along side Tyler and Rachel in Franklin, TN for a few years. Joel prayed everyday in our Prayer Gazebo on top of the hill, which was our attempt at a House of Prayer.

Joel was a big & burly man who lived a single lifestyle. Joel was called Uncle Joelie by many and later Papa Joelie by some. He was a servant, a prayer warrior, a writer, a story teller, and fire side chat man. His Bible and his laptop were his constant companions.

Joel was one of my friends.

He now joins Michal Ann, David Dreiling and a growing company in the Great Cloud of Witnesses.

I already miss this man, the twinkle in his eye and his laughter saying, “Golly Jim, there’s not many of us left. We got to stick together. You know what I mean?”

Joel is now with Jesus, his best friend, for the almost all of his life. Joel was born in 1951 and departed in 2026 making him 75 years young. Love you Joel. You done did well!
