Jesus Among the Living

The resurrection of Christ is the joy and hope of Easter. It means Jesus specializes in bringing dead things and people back to life. For some people, however, it's just to good to be true...

"But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. Then they said to her, 'Woman, why are you weeping?' She said to them, 'Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.' Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, 'Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?' She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, 'Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.' Jesus said to her, 'Mary!' She turned and said to Him, 'Rabboni!' (which is to say, Teacher)." (John 20:11, 13-16 NKJV)

Mary wanted to salvage the body of her Lord. At least she could show some honor and dignity to her beloved Teacher, to try and make some sense of this tragedy. I'm sure a thousand questions must have raced through her mind, bewildered about the whereabouts of Jesus.

Mary saw Jesus standing there, but didn't know this Man as Jesus. Most of us could identify with Mary. "Where is Jesus?" Surely we have all asked that question in life's darkest times. Mary was arriving at a conclusion purely based upon circumstantial evidence. She may have been thinking something like this: "This must be the end. He is gone. Everything He promised must have been a mistake. The best thing for me to do is simply grieve what could have been and make the best of things." But Jesus intervened, asking her two important questions: "Why are you weeping?" and "Whom are you seeking?"

It seems that Mary was looking for the buried Jesus, weeping for what was. Everything He taught and imparted was now just fond memories. I wonder if Jesus' question was meant to imply that Mary was needlessly grieving? That she was looking in the wrong place? Just as the angel asked, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?"

"Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, 'Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ” (Luke 24:5‭-‬7 NKJV)

The angel reminded them of the promise of resurrection, and how Jesus had taught them this truth. This is the truth of the gospel message- death, burial, and resurrection.

We serve the living Jesus, our God Who is surely alive! He is no longer among the dead. His words are truth and life to those who seek Him. But if we are living our lives being daily confronted with the empirical and natural evidence of negative circumstances of life, and believing and trusting in only that which we can see, we will surely mistake Jesus for the gardener. If we are looking for Jesus and His promises among the ash heap of "been there, done that," we will absolutely not recognize His Divine Presence when He calls out to us with reassurance and comfort. Jesus redeems the ash heap, making all things new because He is among the living, and has risen from the dead.

How sweet it must have been for Mary to hear Jesus call her by name. Mary, in her brokenness and need, was able to distinguish that lovely voice from all other voices. She was able to make that step of faith from burial to resurrection. In doing so, her faith was renewed and her heart rejoiced, knowing that He was alive.

This is the Jesus we should be seeking - the Jesus Who is alive and forever interceding for us, and working on our behalf. I'm thankful for the message of the cross, but He is no longer suffering on the cross. He is risen and we are seated in heavenly places with Him.

Giving Thanks

It's a good and appropriate thing to give thanks to the Lord. It matters not whether life is happy and abundant, or difficult and painful. We can never go wrong by verbalizing our gratitude to our Savior...

“It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭92:1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I'm so thankful to God for friends, family, and all that He has done in my family's life. We as Christians all have a unique life story that includes His grace and forgiveness. We all have a reason to sing praise and give thanks...

“I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my foes rejoice over me. O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. O LORD, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭30:1-4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Where would we be without the Lord? I'm reminded of God's intervening power on our behalf in so many situations in life where, if it were not for God, we would all be in a much different place today.

He makes us overcomers and causes us to defeat those enemies who seek to come against us. He had healed us from disease, sin, and brokenness - restored us and reconciled us to Himself, delivering us from darkness. He brought our soul up from the grave - we have peace with God through resurrection power of the Holy Spirit who daily empowers us to live for Him.

He has kept us alive for a purpose far greater than we could imagine in our own strength.

It's so true that if it were not for God's intervening on our behalf, our lives would be much different...

“If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us;”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭124:2-3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We have good reason to give thanks and sing praise to God! If it were not for God, we would have been swallowed alive by the issues of life. I'm so grateful to Him today for His grace and mercy.

The Holy Spirit: Revealer and Teacher

God reveals Himself to us by His Spirit. Those who do not know Christ do not have this benefit. He is our Teacher and reveals to us all that God has prepared for us…

“But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Men may teach the Bible but it is the Spirit of God who reveals the truth of God and His word…

“For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭11‬-‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

As children of God, it is our duty and responsibility to judge the teachers and teaching we hear and read. That is due to the fact that the Spirit of God lives in us. He confirms or cautions our spirit, as we attempt to accurately assess the truthfulness of that which we are taught…

“But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Your trusted pastor is here to teach you, guide you, serve you, admonish and encourage you. Those pastors whom God have placed in our lives to do these things have a solemn responsibility to to do with great care, and have a much heavier weight of responsibility to accurately divide the word of God. However, you as a Christian get to be the judge of that. You must discern whether the words that are taught are from God.

The Hoy Spirit is our Teacher…

“But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”
‭‭I John‬ ‭2‬:‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

He will illuminate your spirit and reveal the heart of God to you as you read your bible. Trust in the men and women God has placed in your life. But reserve the right and responsibility to judge all things for yourself! You have the Holy Spirit. He will not deceive you, nor lead you astray.

The Beauty of Artistry

God has placed a bit of the creative artist in each of us. If you have ever created, designed, crafted, drawn, sketched, built or put together something of beauty, you have functioned as an artist. If you have ever had a melody pop into your mind, written a poem, or put to paper (or computer) a creative concept or idea, this is true artistry at work.

Artists are musicians, painters, architects, craftsmen, writers, photographers, videographer, dancers - really, anyone that sees beauty before its created. My wife is actually an amazing abstract artist (see her work below!). The works she creates are born from a gifting that sees elegance and grace long before it’s painted on to the canvas.

There were two men in the book of Exodus were true artists - gifted and empowered by God to create objects of beauty straight from heaven. Let's look at Bezalel and Aholiab...

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship. “And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you: the tabernacle of meeting, the ark of the Testimony and the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furniture of the tabernacle— the table and its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense, the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base— the garments of ministry, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests, and the anointing oil and sweet incense for the holy place. According to all that I have commanded you they shall do.” (Exodus 31:1-11 NKJV)

Are you a “gifted artisan”? Do you have creativity to design or create images or concepts no one else sees? This is a gift from God - a holy endowment of unique wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to bring to life representations of artistry.

Artistry is a God thing. These two men took a God-breathed vision and fleshed it out in the tabernacle. This is the beauty of an artist- to take a God-idea and give it representation here in the physical world. Remember, Moses was commanded to make the tabernacle according to the heavenly pattern revealed to him...

“And see to it that you make them according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.” (Exodus 25:40 NKJV)

So godly artistry is about bringing heaven to earth. These two men did just that. And I bet they were a bit different, too, like many artists - maybe Bezalel had an earring or a tattoo. Maybe Aholiab's hair might have looked different than everyone else's. I'm joking, of course, but artists are different. They don't fit in with the status quo.

But that's okay. God has made them with amazing wisdom and giftedness to see the world through the eyes of our Creator - to see the beauty in the unloveable and undesirable - just like God did in us.

If you are an artist, I pray that you fulfill your mission of beauty in this life. Do what you were born to do. Don't allow the enemy to stain the purity of your gift. Use it for God in the midst of a carnal culture.

Our lives are richer today because of these creative people. I see the beauty of artistry and the glory of God in His handiwork expressed through mere men and women who have a holy calling to see and create beauty, and give the glory to God.

Do All Spiritual Gifts Exist Today?

You might be thinking that this is another inflammatory article designed to create controversy and chaos. It’s never my intention to do this. However, open and respectful dialogue is always a good thing, and I highly encourage your responses. Especially about a subject of such significance in our Christian theology: spiritual gifts.

So, do all the gifts of the Spirit continue even into today? The short answer is a resounding YES! But not all believers think so. But hey - why don’t we see what the Bible says…

“But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.””
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It’s pretty clear, right? Jesus gave gifts. No disclaimers. No contingency clauses. No exceptions.

So, if Jesus ascended on high and gave gifts to men, did He change His mind about giving some of those gifts after a period of time? Did He tell us, “Wait just a minute! Now, I’m giving these gifts for sure, but a handful are only for about 100 years.” I don’t think He said that. But that’s exactly what Cessationists believe.

They teach that spiritual gifts were given in certain classifications, one of which is “Sign Gifts.” Gifts of healing, prophecy and the like. Take a read from the following cessationist pastors (quotes taken directly from the Cessationist movie)…

Chad Vegas: “We want to seek the gifts that we might care for one another in the body of Christ. But - in the era of the Corinthian church, the foundation was still being laid. They did need the sign gifts. We are not in that era anymore.”

Steven Lawson: “There is no mention in the second half of the first century once you pass the book of second Corinthians , there is no more mention of any miracles being performed by any apostle.”

Another Steven Lawson quote: “There is no mention of these miraculous sign gifts in the New Testament past 56 or 57 A.D., when 1 Corinthians was written. Once you get past that date to the later general epistles and even Paul’s later epistles, there is no mention of these gifts, which indicates that they were beginning to pass.”

My friends, do you notice in each of these quotes that not one of these theologians gave a single scripture supporting this theory? Not one!

That’s because there is absolutely no scripture in the Bible that communicates the postulation that God sovereignly ordained a handful of gifts Jesus gave to stop being given!

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭7‬-‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Read the above passage closely. There is no timetable. There is nothing to suggest that any of these gifts will cease.

More to come later, blessings to you all as you study for yourselves.

Spotting a False Teacher: Christ is Enough

False teachers prey upon vulnerable people. They develop teachings contrary to God’s word with the intention of luring you in by making outlandish statements and promises that cater to our our basic needs and desires.

Why am I sharing this? Because Christians need to have a firm foundation of orthodox Biblical principles and theology that governs our daily lives. Paul warns us in Ephesians…

“that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The truth is, people look for shortcuts in life. It’s human nature. We want what we want, and we want it now. This type of philosophy is living life at it lowest level. When someone like this encounters hardship and stress, they can be inclined towards “easy” and “quick.” My friends, may I suggest to you that absolutely nothing from God is easy and quick! Being a mature Christian will require a commitment to learning God’s word and growing into Christ our Head. We are susceptible to false teachings when we follow our flesh.

False teachers teach things that appeal to the flesh: happiness, prosperity, and generally attempting to achieve self-centered goals. Now, there’s nothing wrong with being happy or prosperous. But these are not the goals of Kingdom-minded Christians!

I want to share with you the real snare of false teaching: “Has God said…?”

“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

This is where Christians become ensnared with false teachings: we begin to doubt God’s goodness, provision and faithfulness. Satan cast doubt upon the character of God in this passage. And it still is in the works today. We seek after the temporal fix of a fleshly answer shrouded in the deceptive practices of a scripture taken out of context.-

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
‭‭II Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

You see, we already have everything we need from God! He hasn’t held out on us! His divine power has given us ALL things pertaining to life and godliness! Christ is sufficient and He has already paid the price for your sanctification. He has already blessed us with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places. His word and Spirit have been given to us.

In summary, false teachers appeal to the works of the flesh, and to our lack of maturity and weak faith. We fall into these traps due to this immaturity and lack of knowledge of the Word of God. But we are complete in Christ.

Is Worrying a Sin?

Worry.

It’s a difficult emotional response to many situations in life that cause us to fear. I face this tyrant every day as I help people address the awful consequences of the dreaded, possible outcomes about which they ruminate.

Worry is a response to anxiety and fear. And while there’s no doubt that we should not surrender to its grip, it is certainly not a sinful act.

Lets look at scripture to see this…

““Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭25‬, ‭27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We see Jesus Himself appealing to His listeners - reasoning with them - entreating them to acknowledge that nothing is gained by worrying. Life is much more than these temporal elements that demand our concerns…

““So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Jesus further teaches us of the Providence of God, our Provider. He also indicates that the nature of worry is not that it is sinful, but rather, a weak faith!

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭34‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

After hearing this brief instruction about worry, what does He tell us to do? Repent? Ask forgiveness?

No. He simply says “Don’t worry.”

I’m bringing this to light for a reason. I recently came across a post from a well-known pastor whom I admire respect very much, John MacArthur. You may read it for yourself.*

This pastor teaches about how sinful it is to worry, and that when we do, it is an affront to God. Please allow me to share an excerpt here…

“In Luke 12, verse 22 He says, "Don't be anxious for your life," and by that He means what you eat, and your body, what you wear. Stop worrying about that, the basics of life. And then down in verse 32, "Don't be afraid on the spiritual level for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom." You're left with nothing to worry about, nothing to be anxious about, nothing to be stressed about, nothing to panic over. So we conclude that if you do worry as a Christian, worry is a sin. But it's a sin that rises from a failure to understand God, a failure to understand His sovereign love, a failure to understand His sovereign care, a failure to understand His sovereign resources.”

John MacArthur, 2004, https://www.gty.org/library/sermons-library/42-172/anxietyfree-living-part-1

The article has some good things to say about anxiety for certain. But I would suggest two truths worthy of consideration. First, that it not a sin, but rather, an emotional response to circumstances, the solution of which is to grow in our faith toward our Heavenly Father.

Second, the truth of managing anxiety and worry. Anxiety and worry can be appropriately managed and greatly reduced as we grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ. MacArthur suggests that it can be altogether eliminated…

“People live with anxiety. They live with worry. They live with stress. But it's so common that we don't even talk about eliminating it. The term is "to manage it." You take a course, go to a seminar, listen to a lecture, buy a tape on stress management like it was a baseball team, needed a manager, or a production line. Then Jesus comes along and says, "I'm not going to teach you how to manage your stress, I'll eliminate it."

In his article he seems to be mildly suspect and doubtful of the clinical professions that addresses mental health disorders connected with anxiety. I am part of this community of practitioners who see this on a daily basis. It’s virtually impossible to “eliminate” the repertoire of negative emotional responses and states we experience as human beings.

We can, however, manage the way we respond to such emotions! By the power of the Holy Spirit, by exercising life-giving and edifying practices of prayer, worship, bible reading, and connecting with other Christians, our faith grows and our minds are renewed. By implementing practical approaches of watching what we think about, what we believe, and guarding our hearts, we can overcome negative and dreaded emotions that plague our lives. I also would add to this list in some cases, appropriate medications, counseling and other psychological interventions that greatly empower us to reduce stress, worry and anxiety.

But make no mistake: stress will happen because we have responsibilities, jobs, families, careers. Stress happens within a spectrum. Stress is not evil. But in an unmanaged life where stress is ignored, it can grow into a dangerous representation in our lives of negative ruminations, catastrophizing, overthinking and even somatic illness.

Think about this : If it’s a sin to worry and be anxious, what about sadness? How about fear? Shame? Embarrassment? Shall we be convicted and repent when we feel certain emotions? Or should we rather be vigilant to recognize and acknowledge such emotions, and learn to respond with faith, maturity and self-awareness? Jesus teaches us how to respond to such emotions.

No, worry is not a sin. It is never once mentioned in any list of sins in the Bible.

God is in Charge

There’s so much turmoil and fear about the coming election. Regardless of one’s political affiliation, in the end, we can rest in the fact and truth that God is in charge…

“I said to the boastful, ‘Do not deal boastfully,’ And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn. Do not lift up your horn on high; Do not speak with a stiff neck.’ ” For exaltation comes neither from the east Nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, And exalts another.”
‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭75‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Yes, it matters for whom one votes! But make no mistake- God will have His way. Whomever wins the election, God is sovereign and He will direct the affairs of men, as He has done throughout history…

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.”
‭‭(Proverbs‬ ‭21‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

The problem for us is simply our earthly perspective. We do see things, as the Bible says, “through a glass, darkly” (I Cor. 13:12). We don’t have the privilege at times of accurately seeing and observing all that God is doing. It’s true that God, throughout history, not only allowed but directed godless kings to be enthroned at various times. We think, “Wow, why would He do such a thing?” The answer is - to bring glory to His name.

“and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against you, O Sidon; I will be glorified in your midst; And they shall know that I am the Lord, When I execute judgments in her and am hallowed in her.”
‭‭(Ezekiel‬ ‭28‬:‭22‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

That’s really it. God gets glory and His name will be magnified in the earth. Unfortunately, He never asks us permission or gives us a vote. Apparently, He knows what He’s doing.

“Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.” “I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.”
‭‭(Psalms‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭7‬)

God sent His Son to do His will and to glorify His name. This work continues even today.

Jesus is King, no matter who is elected. We do our part: we research the candidates, we process our thoughts about the various issues at hand, and we cast our votes. Then we place our trust and hope in Jesus, to whom every nation will bow.

Ruth: The Redemption of Loss

Boaz was the nearest family to Ruth and Naomi - their nearest “kin.” He truly is the “Kinsman Redeemer.” And Boaz has a plan in mind for Ruth and Naomi of securing their future, and this scripture was his basis for doing so:

‘If one of your brethren becomes poor, and has sold some of his possession, and if his redeeming relative comes to redeem it, then he may redeem what his brother sold. (Leviticus 25:25 NKJV)

Maybe you have heard of the phrase, “keep it in the family.” This law mentioned above in Leviticus allows for a family member to buy back a possession which had previously been sold by another family member, and thus, keep it in the family. In this way, precious household items, jewelry, and even land, would not be lost forever. Even today, good people have to sell things when times are tight. Pawn shops are filled with such items - precious mementos from families who once had to make a sacrifice. Thank God for the family member who could exercise this “right of redemption.”

When poverty sets in, there’s a lack of resources, and loss becomes a reality. And loss can come in many ways - a loved one, a precious and close relationship, a career, and even a sense of "wasted years" that we will never get back. We lose money, integrity, homes, and other valuable parts of life. Naomi lost her land, her husband, her sons, and ultimately her legacy.

But Boaz is the family member uniquely qualified to act on Naomi’s behalf. He can help her by buying back and restoring the land that Naomi previously had to sell. He's going to go out and get back that which was lost...

“Now Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there; and behold, the close relative of whom Boaz had spoken came by. So Boaz said, ‘Come aside, friend, sit down here.’ So he came aside and sat down. And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, ‘Sit down here.’ So they sat down. Then he said to the close relative, ‘Naomi, who has come back from the country of Moab, sold the piece of land which belonged to our brother Elimelech. And I thought to inform you, saying, ‘Buy it back in the presence of the inhabitants and the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know; for there is no one but you to redeem it, and I am next after you.’ ” And he said, “I will redeem it. ” (Ruth 4:1-4 NKJV)

Boaz “closed the deal.” He saw the need, listened to the cries of his extended family, and advocated for their well-being. This is a picture of our God, who is at work in our lives in ways we don't see. He speaks to people, and arranges situations and events so that His purpose comes to pass - all with a view towards restoration, redemption, spiritual growth, and creating a legacy for your future generations to come.

You are part of God’s family. He is the Great Redeemer. God is going to restore to you not just what you have lost, but so much better than what you previously had, and in greater measure. He is at work right now bringing about your restoration and legacy.
