Members of the Shepherd of the Prairie congregation began meeting for worship before becoming organized under Pastor Travis Pittock in 2015. In 2016, Shepherd of the Prairie was officially founded, but with no permanent home. Pastor Michael Gruhn became our full-time pastor in early 2017, and we moved into our permanent home on the square that summer. On October 8, 2017, the doors to our new church home on Decherd Street were officially dedicated. We now have over 25 members and counting. We meet for Sunday adult and children's Bible school at 9 am followed by worship at 10 am.

📅 Saturday, July 4th: Reflection, Freedom, and Remembrance

Celebrating America’s Semiquincentennial (250th Birthday) while holding space for solemn remembrance, prayer, and community healing.

Happy 4th of July, community! 🇺🇸
Today is an incredibly historic milestone as we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday. For two and a half centuries, we have been blessed with the gift of freedom, the beauty of community, and the privilege to gather, worship, and grow together. We have so much to be profoundly grateful for, and we praise God for His hand over this nation.

Yet, as we look at the fireworks and celebrate the freedoms we hold dear, our hearts are also deeply reflective. True community means rejoicing together, but it also means mourning together and lifting one another up in prayer. This Independence Day, we are pausing to remember a solemn anniversary for our home state—honoring the 154 precious lives lost in the devastating Texas floods just one year ago.
To every family who is carrying an empty seat at the table this holiday, and to everyone still walking through the journey of grief and rebuilding: you are not forgotten. Our church family stands with you, we pray for you, and we remind you that even in the heaviest seasons, God is a refuge and strength. Today, let’s celebrate our nation’s milestone with hearts full of gratitude, hands extended in kindness, and prayers dedicated to comfort, healing, and unity across our communities.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." — Psalm 34:18

Our Sunday Schedule (Tomorrow): 📖 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM — Bible Study

🎶 10:00 AM — Church Service

If you or someone you know is going through a tough season or still healing from the losses of last year, please know our doors and our hearts are always open to you. Join us tomorrow morning for fellowship and a safe place to rest. Send us a DM if you'd like a friendly face to meet you at the door! ❤️
