Franklin First United Methodist Church

Franklin First United Methodist Church You are invited to join us as we explore God’s Word and reach out to serve our neighbors. Making Disciples. Building Christian Community. Transforming Lives.

At Franklin First, we find purpose by opening ourselves to God’s love and mission. There are so many options in life calling for our attention. We can constantly be asking ourselves, “Should I look into this? Will I fit in? What can I expect if I visit?” All good questions to consider. Franklin First is a modest-sized church that has a family feel. We have a few main goals: 1) to grow in our faith

journey, whether we are seasoned believers or just getting started 2) to welcome new friends, and 3) to serve our community by being the hands and feet of Jesus. We believe that the Lord doesn’t care what we wear or what our background is. God is waiting for each of us to respond to his unconditional love. When we say “yes” to God, we begin a process of growth that continues our entire life. In this fellowship of faith, we worship, study, pray and serve together. By sharing this journey, we claim our identity as a child of God and become a supportive family. You are welcome at Franklin First. God is waiting to welcome you, and so are we. We can't leave church just remembering the past; we leave carrying a responsibility for the future. 🌎 While we honor the incredible sacrifice of our armed forces who lay down their lives for our country, Pentecost charges the church with a parallel mission. Greater love isn’t just about dying for others—it’s about how we choose to live for them every single day. 🕊️

If you're just checking off religious tasks like doing the dishes, you're missing the point. 🍽️ Jesus doesn't call us servants; He calls us friends. The ultimate job of the Holy Spirit is to completely transform our motivation—moving our hearts from 'I have to do this' to 'I want to do this.' True faith is living as a friend of God. ❤️

To our graduates: You’ve spent years "powering up"—filling your heads with facts and your resumes with extracurriculars. But remember, your degrees and diplomas aren't the source of your light; they are the lenses that focus it.

Whether you are headed to a college chemistry lab, a new corporate breakroom, or a creative studio, your "city on a hill" light is entirely portable.

Where is God calling you to focus your light next?

Stop exhausting yourself at the oars. 🚣‍♂️ Pentecost represents the exact moment the church stopped relying entirely on human effort and started catching the wind of the Holy Spirit. Ministry went from a small group of 12 people to a global movement because they caught God's "pneuma"—His holy wind. Are you ready to stop rowing and start sailing? ✨

It’s easy to treat our faith like a dying phone battery—dimming our screen, shrinking our presence, and trying to just "survive" the day.

But Jesus didn't call us to be the nightlight of the world. He called us to be a massive, glowing city on a hill. It's time to take your faith off of low power mode.

Join us this Sunday at 10:45 am in-person or live on Facebook as we talk about what it means to truly shine.

A beautiful moment from Sunday's service as Tami shared her gift with us, playing a rendition of "On Eagle's Wings" on the flute. It’s amazing how a simple melody can carry so much hope. 🙏💙

Pastor Laura's Wednesday Meditation: Memorial Day Weekend Reflection

Well, we survived another Memorial Day weekend, and I’m happy to report that my grilling skills will not give any seasoned grill masters cause for competition angst. I hope your holiday was filled with meaningful reflection, far too many hot dogs, and only a moderate amount of sunburn redness.

Now that the propane has settled and the last of the "smoky soul" burgers have been consumed, it’s a great time to carry that spirit of gratitude forward. Our Franklin community always has a meaningful way to remember the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces, and especially those who gave everything for our freedom. While the parades have ended and the flags are back on the porches, the liberty the soldiers secured is something we get to live out every single day. Let’s not take their sacrifice for granted. Even though we have a wide spectrum of thought in our great land, we live in one of the greatest nations on Earth. We have much to appreciate and celebrate.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at church this coming Sunday. We will be hopefully refreshed and ready to dive back into our mission. If you’re still sporting a bright red face from the festivities, don’t worry—we’ll just consider it a glowing reminder of a weekend well spent. See you soon, stay hydrated, and may your leftovers be even better on day three!

May the Lord bless you and keep you
Pastor Laura

The Jim Mears Memorial Day Parade is one of our favorite downtown traditions, honoring those who served.

Sharing a couple of our favorite photos from the The City of Franklin, Ohio's photos—where the beauty of the church shines in the background of this solemn celebration. We love being right in the heart of it all!
