Thank you, God, for the way of salvation, for your son, Jesus Christ, and that in your great plan “the leaves of the tree” of life “are for the healing of the nations.” I live today in the hope and assurance of your salvation and of your kingdom. Help me this day to honor you and be a sign of hope and healing to others. Amen.

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city. On either side of the river is the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. — Revelation 22:1-2

I thank you Lord that when I pray I do not pray alone, but with the deep help of your Spirit and in the company of saints and martyrs. Lord, I join my prayers and cries and intercessions with your faithful, Godly people: May your kingdom come! May your will be done on earth as in heaven. Amen.

Oh God, I thank you for the gospel of Jesus Christ, the power of God for the salvation of all who trust fully in you. I commit my way to you this day, asking that you would help me live your righteousness, that you may be glorified in my life and in your world. Amen.

Lord God, Blessed Trinity, I join with your people around the world in praising and honoring you today. Holy God, may your name be praised in all the nations. I give each moment of this day to you, to be lived to the praise of your glorious grace. Praise be to you, Lord Christ. Amen.

Lord God, holy and loving Father, I praise and honor you today. Jesus, you who lived and laughed and suffered and won, be with me in my joys and struggles. Holy Spirit, graciously transform my every struggle and battle into a means of grace so that I may grow in graceful, fruitful faithfulness, I quietly pray. Amen.

“Incline your ears to the words of my mouth…” God says through the pen of the psalmist. This simple prompt is the center of what humility means and is the measure and delight of the faithful person. To “incline” is to stretch out toward something, to bend and be biased towards it. To incline to God’s words is to tune one’s life for harmony with God. When we incline our ears to God’s words, we don’t end up with a bulging bag of prohibitions, we find that our burdens are lightened, our appetite for chaos is reoriented to peace and our imaginations are enlivened.
