We wanted to take a moment this morning to acknowledge a great loss for Macon County.

Ms. Mary Ann Thompson was a chaplain over at our detention center for many years. She might have been the closest thing to a saint you could ever meet. She dedicated her whole life to caring for others, and trying to extend her boundless kindness and empathy where the community could use it the most.

She will be deeply missed by her family and the community she served so faithfully.
