When His disciples ask Him to teach them how to pray, Jesus gives us what we now know as the Lord’s Prayer. Praying to His Father, one of the first things He says is, “Your Kingdom come”.

Many of us are familiar with this prayer and some of us may even pray it. Praying “Your Kingdom come” is more than just a request of God, however. The truth is, Jesus is Lord and King over all. All authority has been given to Him. Yet, at the same time, His Kingdom has not come in its fullness yet, and is still growing here and now.

So how does His Kingdom come? The Kingdom of God advances through the people of God living in submission to the King. When we lay aside our lives and wills for the sake of Jesus and His will, we live out the Kingdom reality. We share the Good News of the Kingdom. And the invisible Kingdom becomes visible to those around us!

If what is said above is true, that means we - followers of Jesus and people of the Kingdom of God - must be willing to have conversations with others about the Kingdom. About Jesus. About His Gospel. About what He’s done for us.

Yes, let’s be people that display the Kingdom in our behaviors. But let’s also be people that are willing to share the good news of the Kingdom with our words! It is said that we can’t help but talk about what we love. So let’s strive to be people who, like the apostles Peter and John, say from a true and pure heart, “We cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20).

When we truly understand the Gospel, we can’t help but be captivated by how much Jesus did for us. Jesus was infinitely rich, yet became poor for our sake, that we might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). He - the eternal Word of God - humbled Himself to the point of death on a cross that those who believe in Him might live eternally.

When we are gripped by the true Gospel, we want to share the good news. May we do this in word and deed, willing to boldly proclaim what God has done AND sacrificially give of ourselves, following the perfect example of our Savior!

It’s Tuesday! We ARE still planning to meet tonight, despite the weather forecast. The worst of the weather looks to be over by the time most of you will drive in. Please use your discretion and if you don’t feel safe to drive, don’t risk it!

We are excited to jump into a new series with you all tonight! For the After Hour, we’ll head to the gym for indoor soccer. Can’t wait to see you!

Sometimes, hospitality is a joy to us. Other times, it may feel more like a discipline. No matter our feelings, the call to hospitality remains. As followers of Jesus, we are to be obedient when we feel like it and when we don’t.

There are many paradoxes in the Christian life. For example, Jesus says that those who would save their life will lose it, but those who lose their life for His sake will find it. In the same way, when we to decide to be hospitable no matter what’s going on or what we feel, we believe we will find that God is there, glorified in our actions, helping us look more like Jesus, and filling us with joy!
