Innocent’s Retreat Center is focused particularly on married couples and families, and not on single men and women. The Orthodox Church teaches that God has given to us all two possible paths for our salvation: one is marriage and the other monasticism! In either of these two relationships we are able to learn humility, pushing ourselves down in obedience to another and in so doing following the
way of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ who “humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross!” (cf. Philippians 2:8)
Because monasteries receive single men and woman into holy monasticism, they are especially well suited to minister to the needs of single men and women who can go there to meditate and pray and spend time seeking guidance from the spiritual fathers there. Innocent’s Retreat Center, however, is particularly designed to meet the needs of couples and families! Innocent’s Retreat Center, they are able to build their relationship through the Church, Church services and the Gospel. Throughout their stay they will have the opportunity to be together and to spend time together as a couple or family learning, discussing, working, playing and praying together! They will be able to be together with Father Michael and his family, as well as other couples and families, to see and experience Christian marriage and family life modeled before them.
