Well guys, here are the preliminary report.

3 pilings were completely rotten through. Just pushed them and they fell over.

4th piling is rotten almost through but is rotten 2 feet down.
Oops! The fiddler crabs are losing their home. You can see the hole in the side of the piling.

Hey everybody. A few people were asking how they were going to lift the Chapel. Here are some pictures of the equipment and the jacks.

The hydraulic jacks raise the chapel 12" at a time, then they add blocks and reposition the jacks to lift another 12".
In the video you can see the hydraulic machine used to add pressure to each jack at the same time.

Hope you enjoy.

Here you can see the front porch and the A/C platform have all been removed.
The platform board have been saved to be reused for the new platform that will be built. Old 4x12s are still in great shape.

All the flower bed pads have been saved.

Also the Mary statue and the St Francis statue and the sign have been stored and will be refinished to be reinstalled after the construction is complete.

On March 23rd we had a gathering for the signing of contracts to move forward with the lifting of St. Francis Chapel.

Along with myself, Fr Randy Courville, we had

Alex Heuay from the Sulzer Group,
Paul Allain – the project architect.

And from Bulliard Construction:
Tom Bulliard, Paul Broussard, Keith Theriot, Chris Reed and Ethan Courville

After signing the contracts preparations will begin in early April to get ready for the lifting late April or early May.
More updates to come soon.

Blessed good evening and Happy Laetare Sunday.

St Francis Chapel update.
Mother Nature has been slowing down the progress on the roof but they are advancing.
Roof should be finished this week.

We also had to remove more trees before the construction.

Oops! My c**n also lost his home. When the trunk feel a large rac**n ran out into the marsh.

Plans are to sign contract papers with Bulliard's and FEMA on Monday, March 23rd to move forward with the lifting.

ST. FRANCIS CHAPEL UPDATE

In October and November we were weeks away from starting the lifting project when we noticed the roof had a leak. FEMA required the roof to be repaired before beginning the lifting.

After consultation and bidding, work was started to repair the roof. Notice as well, that the angle of the roof was changed to eliminate future issues with the flat roof.

Due to the color and other issue the metal was on back order and should arrive next week are so. The roof should be finish by the end of February.

So we should be signing contracts early March to begin the lifting. Last estimation to complete the project was 6 or 7 months. Putting completion around September.

So sadly, we will not be having Mass this summer at St. Francis Chapel or at Cypremort Point. We will continue posting updated pictures so you can see the progress of the work.

Also to mention in advance, once the construction is completed the Bishop will be coming to celebrate a Mass to reconsecrate the altar and chapel for services. Likewise I will keep you posted for that date.
Any questions or comments don't hesitate to give me a call or email me. Thanks and God's Blessings to all.
