How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

What a beautiful morning it was yesterday! Baptizing 11 in the peaceful and beautiful creek.

The older I get the more I realize the power of mindset and perspective. This morning I was blessed to get up for work. I could have said I “had to go to work”. But I was blessed to get to go to work. Last night I was blessed to be able to cook my family dinner. I could have thought that task was a burden, but the mindset I had about it being a blessing changed the experience into something enjoyable. Everything in life can go from a burden to a blessing if we frame it with the correct mindset. Mindset, perspective, and our attitude are everything.

Spiritual people use spiritual teaching to Change their life. Carnal people use spiritual teaching to Justify their life. One responds to conviction that leads to repentence, one does not. Same Word, different response. Same Church, different response. Same worship music, different response. Jesus had disciples follow Him everywhere for 3 years and die for the Gospel. But He also had people leave Him, mock Him and betray Him. Same Teacher, different response. Jesus inspired revival but also riots. Stop judging your life and work by response. Response has nothing to do with it. Calling and obedience to that calling, let the Master determine response. We are sowers of seed but He makes the seed sprout and grow.

Most people have a fundamental misunderstanding of the love and grace of God. God does not forgive you because He loves you. You are His, created in His image. He chooses to love you unconditionally for no other reason than His loving nature. But He forgives you because of His Son. Your sins have been forgiven because Jesus paid dearly for them. The penalty was a brutal death and separation from the Father on a cross meant for criminals. The atonement has been settled. Forgiveness is yours because Jesus died in your place. Now we need to move on from this knowledge and apply it to our heart. Whether you feel it or not, you are loved. You are loved on good days and you are loved on your worst days. His love isn’t like our “love”. The Father never loved you because of anything you did and it isn’t performance based. So please, please, rest in His love, especially when you don’t feel it. It isn’t emotional. The love of the Father is the most powerful force in the universe. I pray you experience it today and you just rest in it! Love you today and God bless you!
