If you were not at BH tonight, you missed a great evening. We started off with Bruno’s food truck for pizza and breadsticks and then our kitchen crew offered veggie tray and root beer floats!

We sang praises to God and shared God moments. Celebrations of milestones; we are so proud of this group! Keep up the good work!

Jessica shared her testimony. I’m not going to give a lot of details because it is her story to tell but I can tell you that it was awesome! After a long family line of alcohol abuse and even physical abuse, Jessica is breaking the chains. She shared that she has always had God but until she totally surrendered to Him is when everything changed. She encourages everyone to read the Bible, every day! It can change your life! Thank you, Jessica! The energy and fire you have for Jesus is a beautiful sight! 💜

Pastor David gave our lesson tonight. What is your excuse for not sharing the Good News? He shared 8 possible reasons and how to handle.
1. We may not have a good answer if asked a question. Don’t be afraid to admit that we don’t know but then do the research to find out!
2. Too scared to share. Pray about sharing and ask God for boldness.
3. Not my responsibility. Then who? Mark 16:15…be a witness.
4. Don’t know how to witness. God will test us but always give more chances. Research on “how” to learn.
5. I don’t speak well. God will provide the words and be with us.
6. I don’t know how to start a conversation. Pray about it. Maybe just be kind. Start small, then build from there.
7. Afraid people will remember all the bad I’ve done. Give God the glory; He is how you’ve overcome!
8. I don’t have time. We abuse our free time. Anything not leading to Christ is a distraction.

Ask God to re-establish your witness. Know your testimony. Write it on paper, remove the fluff and give the highlights—what God has done for you!

Thank you, David!

See you next week!

What a moving night of music, testimony, and message. God’s presence was definitely felt by all.

Our evening started with full bellies from hamburgers on the grill, french fries, and broccoli salad. Nothing is better than grilled burgers! Thank you to our amazing kitchen crew for serving with such love.

Worship began with Zach Williams’ song “Wait for Me.” The lyrics describe a personal journey filled with mistakes, disbelief, and delays in faith, yet despite it all, God continues to wait, offering forgiveness and strength. We also reflected on MercyMe’s song “Make It Well,” a reminder of those seasons when our hearts are heavy, circumstances unresolved, and faith feels fragile. It was truly like a prayer.

We shared God sightings and praises from our week and celebrated many milestones this evening — 120 days sober, 2 years sober, a new job opportunity, and recognizing 9 individuals who shared their testimonies this past year. What mighty achievers!

Tonight, we welcomed Sean as he shared his powerful journey to Christ. Sean grew up in a broken home and remembered saying he never wanted to become like his father as he was dragged along to his dad’s meetings. Unfortunately, addiction soon became part of his own story. Sean began drinking, always wanting more, and eventually faced his first felony. After jail time, alcohol led to drugs, more felonies, dealing, prison terms, and relapsing.

The final breaking point came when Sean faced a possible 155-year prison sentence. Sitting alone in his jail cell, Sean began reading the Bible and crying out to God for help. Tired of hurting those he loved, he joined a prison Bible study where God began using him even while incarcerated. Sean shared that he now believes God allowed captivity to spare his life.

As Sean stood before the judge expecting a life sentence, God moved in a different way. Instead of 155 years, Sean was assigned to a new state prison recovery program and released. His mentor became the late Brett Barton — a man we all loved dearly and miss deeply. Brett believed in Sean and became both mentor and accountability partner throughout recovery. Sean shared how Brett and his wife poured love, grace, and support into his life.

Sean’s life began to change. He married, became a father to four children, and started building a future. Both he and his wife were in recovery and promised each other that relapse would end the marriage. Sadly, relapse and dark seasons returned. Sean survived a near-fatal su***de attempt and once again felt God save him and call him back.

Later, Sean and his wife welcomed a premature baby born addicted to he**in. As Sean held his baby while the child passed away, he found himself angry at God despite all the times God had saved him. Within the next year, Sean lost his wife to overdose, lost his mother, lost his children to DCF, and found himself trapped in deep brokenness and darkness that led to another overdose.

But even then, God was not finished with Sean.

When Sean woke up after that overdose, he was grateful simply to be alive. He prayed for help, entered rehab, and afterward found himself sitting in church praising God for saving him. He began having visits with his children at church, and one year later, God called Sean into addiction ministry.

Today, Sean says his heart cries out for hurting people. He wants to help the broken the same way Jesus helped him. He never imagined God would use his story to reach so many lives. Sean’s message to all of us was simple but powerful: Trust God. Keep praying. No matter what your struggle is, God can pull you up and change your life.

What a beautiful reminder tonight that no one is too far gone for God’s grace.

Third time is a charm. I say this as I type this for the third time after accidentally deleting my summary twice. Makes you wonder sometimes — is it just me, or is the enemy trying to discourage me from sharing?

Tonight, Pastor David shared a powerful message on opposition. He asked us, “Do Christians live in a world of opposition?” The more we grow in our relationship with God and share His Word with others, the more the enemy tries to discourage, destroy, and bully us. Opposition is difficult to face, but God never promised the walk would be easy.

Tonight, we were given 10 important reminders on how to stand firm through opposition:

1. Don’t be surprised when we face opposition. God is not surprised. Read 2 Timothy 3:12, Matthew 5:3-13, and 1 Peter 4:12.

2. Calm your outrage. Don’t respond with fear. Respond with grace and truth. Less reaction and more courageous love.

3. Repent with courage. Sometimes we are not respected because we are not respectable. Own your sins and repent.

4. Keep loving one another. Guard against the temptation to lash out.

5. Love your enemies.

6. Trust God and do good. Challenges come and go, but keep the faith. Keep serving, loving, and doing Kingdom work. Don’t play into the enemy’s hands. Trust God. Doing what is right speaks volumes.

7. Share your hope with others. Be ready because others may want what you have.

8. Be respectful as you share Christ’s Word with others. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Be kind.

9. Remember your Christian family. We are blessed, and there are many others who have it worse than we do. Be grateful.

10. Look to the Lord. Our Lord restores, confirms, strengthens, and establishes us. Fix your eyes on Him. Stay the course with love, integrity, and deep faith.

Our evening was closed in prayer.

Many thanks to Pastor David and Sean for sharing with us tonight. God bless you both.

Just a few reminders:
June 4 – Brianna’s Hope will NOT be meeting
June 11 – upon arrival to our church property, you will see Bruno’s food truck in front of the church. Please Park in the front, grab your supper and we will meet you in our foyer of the sanctuary.

Meatloaf, cheesy potatoes, green beans and cupcakes…YUMMY! We are so blessed to have such a devoted and caring staff of volunteers that cook for us weekly.

Our crowd may have been slim this evening, but it was oh so powerful. Celebrating these three ladies and their milestones was truly a celebration in itself. So proud of them!

Last week I put a plea out on Facebook asking for testimonies for our meetings. Sean immediately reached out and helped connect me with speakers. Tonight we welcomed Tigua, and what a message he brought to us.

At the very young age of 10, while in 4th grade, Tigua began getting high and drinking, which eventually led to m**h use. Fourth grade!! He came from a broken family with two very different parenting styles. Tigua struggled with major behavioral issues, was expelled from school, spent time in psych wards and boys schools, and continued down a path of addiction. He shared how he would even attend church, but in between services he would go out to the parking lot to get high.

Tigua ran from anyone and everyone, continued using, and hurt many people along the way. His life became like a broken record filled with darkness. This cycle began in 4th grade and continued until age 39.

Finally, he decided enough was enough. He prayed to God and said if this was how his life was supposed to be, then to please take his life. Tigua called his family to apologize and tell them he loved them, and then he passed out. Passing out saved his life because God was not done with him yet.

God empowered him through that prayer and broke his chains. God redeemed him. He no longer had the urge to use. Tigua is now active in church and saved by God’s grace. He shared that even after salvation, struggles still came, but through it all God has remained faithful.

The enemy will try to get in your ears and make you question your worth and identity. Instead of listening to the enemy, go to God’s Word and lift up His truth. Pray God’s higher truth over your life. We are called to minister to others. We are ambassadors for Christ. We are qualified because we are saved. God always provides the words we need. Trust God and be His hands and feet.

Thank you, Tigua, for sharing your powerful testimony and showing us how God can transform a life. We were truly blessed to have you with us tonight, and our doors are always open to you. Thank you!

After singing our praises, we celebrated milestones: from 15 days to 2 years of freedom from our bo***ge! So proud of this group! Keep up the great work.

Tonight we didn’t really have a testimony but Merie shared a little bit about herself. I’m not going to share many details but during some tough times in life, she prayed, a lot! For 9-10 years, a prayer everyday for her son to change the direction of his life. But that is more of what she wanted to share…..prayer. How important it is the we pray.

What is the purpose of prayer? Some of your answers: thankful, love, gratitude, relationship with God. It is obvious they there are many reasons to pray. One way to remember the purpose of praying is the acronym ACTS.

“A” stands for Adoration. God is certainly worthy of our praise and adoration. Scripture examples of adoration in prayer: Ephesians 3:14-21 and 1 Chronicles 29:10-13

“C” stands for Confession. There is mercy to be found in confessing one’s sins. And our sins can be cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Scripture examples of confessing sins: Proverbs 28:13 and 1 John 1:7-10, Luke 18:10-14 and Psalm 51:1-13

“T” stands for Thanksgiving. Offer thanksgiving. It’s the antidote to anxiety. Pray for everything with thanksgiving. Scripture examples: Matthew 11:25, 26:27 and John 6:11, 11:41 and Daniel 6:10

“S” stands for Supplication. We are encouraged to let our requests be known to God. We are commanded to make supplications for all men. Scripture examples: 1 Timothy 5:5, 1 Kings 8:28-29 and Luke 23:34 and Acts 7:59-60

With the aid of ACTS, we should never forget the purpose of prayer. We also need to appreciate the power of prayer, have the privilege of prayer, understand the principles of prayer, manifest the persistence of prayer, and engage in the practice of prayer.
(This information came from a Prayer Study by Mark A Copeland in August 2005)

Our pastoral lesson was given by Kathy. Four volunteers helped demonstrate, with different colored glasses, that we all see things differently. We all have our own thoughts and opinions and most of us are guilty of arguing with someone who shared a different opinion from our own. We forget that others see things differently.

God calls us to love our neighbors, even the ones we don’t like or get along with. But remember….even Judas had a place at the table. Without Judas, there would be no cross. We all have a Judas in our life! We are human and we forget but we don’t know the difference that we can make. We don’t have control most of the time but we can help plan and we can help prepare the way for the Lord. Don’t be afraid of the hard questions or the hard people. It’s ok to have our differences. We just need to come together in the name of Jesus!

Kathy closed us in prayer! Have a great week and come see us next week.

Tonight we enjoyed breakfast for dinner with breakfast casserole, hash browns, and breads. Thank you to our amazing kitchen crew for serving us!

Our service opened with praise and worship songs, followed by Brianna’s Hope prayer. Members were invited to share how they saw God at work this past week. One especially powerful moment shared was the reconciliation between a mother and child. God never ceases to amaze me.

Milestones were recognized as celebrating our members and the victories taking place in their lives.

Our speaker this evening was invited by Jennifer Gardner. As Jennifer introduced Dawn, we all prayed that God would use her story to touch hearts. Dawn shared that she grew up in a dysfunctional family. Her mother was abusive, and with her father traveling often, she was emotionally beaten down and never felt good enough. Struggling with low self-esteem, Dawn rebelled at an early age, which eventually led her down the road of addiction.

All Dawn wanted was to be loved, accepted, and affirmed. Through multiple marriages, running from her pain, and raising several children, she found herself searching for peace. Dawn knew about Jesus, but she did not truly have a relationship with Him. Even in her darkest days, God was with her, though she didn’t fully realize it until looking back.

Today, Dawn is thankful for the restoration and transformation God has brought into her life. Her relationships with her children have been restored, and she shared that God is good and never turns His back on us or gives up on us. God has taught her to trust Him. While she still faces daily struggles, Dawn has now been sober and clean for four years and gives God all the glory.

Thank you, Jennifer, for inviting Dawn to share her testimony, and thank you, Dawn, for your courage and honesty. God is truly working through your story.

Our pastoral message was given by Pastor Darin as he continued his message from Psalms 23. He asked us if we have ever experienced a mountaintop moment and how it felt while standing on the mountain top. Yet sooner or later, we all find ourselves walking through valleys of darkness — whether it be addiction, depression, sickness, or broken relationships. Even in those difficult valleys, we are reminded not to fear because God is with us.

God walks beside us, protects us from evil, and helps carry us through. Often, it is only after we have walked through the darkness that we can fully see how God was present all along. Things could have been much worse, but God never left us.

Pastor Darin shared that the heavenly feast is a table of peace and friendship — a godly banquet where all gather together without hate or violence. “Surely goodness and faithfulness shall follow me all the days of my life.” God pursues us and never gives up on us. Through Jesus, we hear the promise that God’s love never turns away.

Just as God pursued David when he felt there was nowhere left to turn, God pursues us in our darkest moments as well. We may not always understand the plan or purpose and may grow weary along the journey, but we can hold tightly to His promises. God gives us rest now and forever as we dwell in the Lord’s house all the days of our lives.

Have a great weekend and we will see you next Thursday. Dinner at 6pm and our service starts at 6:40pm. 😊
