We’re excited to welcome Zach Zehnder as a keynote speaker at Best Practices for Ministry – Heartland!

Zach will present “The Five Hurdles and Five Hopes for the LCMS,” a timely conversation about the greatest challenges facing the LCMS today and where God may be opening doors for the future.

Drawing from a survey of more than 1,000 Lutheran leaders, Zach will explore key topics impacting our church body, including young adults, pastoral formation, digital influence, and institutional trust. This keynote will move beyond diagnosis toward practical solutions, challenging and encouraging those who care deeply about the future of Lutheranism.

Zach is a pastor, author, speaker, podcaster, and founder of Red Letter Living. He is the author of the bestselling Red Letter Challenge, host of The Red Letter Disciple podcast, and currently serves as Teaching Pastor at King of Kings in Omaha, Nebraska. In 2026, Zach also launched Hodos, a nonprofit ministry for Lutheran young adults.

We’re excited to welcome Rev. Dr. Randy Duncan as our Monday evening banquet keynote speaker at Best Practices for Ministry – Heartland!

His keynote, “The Power of Together,” will remind us that the harvest is too great, the mission too important, and the Gospel too precious for us to walk alone. Together, trusting one another and fixing our eyes on Jesus, we can reach farther, love deeper, and bring the hope of Christ to more people than we ever imagined.

Rev. Dr. Duncan serves as Pastor of Campus Mission at University Lutheran Chapel in Ann Arbor and is the point person for the Campus Ministry Network of the Michigan District. He previously served as Campus Pastor and adjunct professor at Concordia University Ann Arbor.

We look forward to gathering together Monday evening for encouragement, connection, and a powerful reminder of what God can do through His people working together.

We’re excited to welcome Rev. Dr. Tim Ahlman as a keynote speaker at Best Practices for Ministry – Heartland!

Rev. Dr. Ahlman will present “Unity in the Church,” a timely and practical keynote focused on the need for greater unity within the LCMS. Drawing from more than 20 years of ministry experience, he will share principles for listening well, disagreeing agreeably, and working toward unity around the essentials of our doctrine while respecting the different ministry contexts in which we serve.

Rev. Dr. Ahlman is Senior Pastor of Christ Greenfield Church in Gilbert, Arizona, and founder of the United Leadership Collective, a movement equipping leaders and churches to thrive in God’s mission. He also hosts the Lead Time and Tim Ahlman podcasts, where he engages leaders in conversations about leadership, discipleship, and the future of the Church.

We look forward to learning from his experience and being encouraged together in our callings.
