THROWBACK THURSDAY- History Makes the Forgotten Made!

I’ve heard we don’t make history…it makes us. Let’s test that theory with George Grillenberger. The ‘MI Lutheran’ magazine from April 1945 reads, “George Grillenberger of St. Lorenz…belonged to that small group of members referred to as lay-theologians. He was born on March 2, 1857, when Frankenmuth was twelve years old. He walked alongside many of the Founding Fathers of both St. Lorenz and our Missouri Synod. He was a simple and unassuming Christian, who held no church office of any kind, but whom God had endowed with splendid gifts and excellent Christian knowledge and judgement…Thus his interest in matters of the kingdom of God was quickened, and he was always ready to work for its promotion.” Grillenberger made history…and that history has made us. Theory tested…and confirmed!

Franklin Avenue Mission has been a ministry partner of St. Lorenz for more than 10 years, and we are excited to support them as they host their first-ever Community Prayer Walk on Thursday, June 11, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Participants will gather at Franklin Avenue Mission to form groups, map out walking routes, and pray together before heading out into Flint’s Eastside Community.

The walk will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by lunch and time to share experiences at noon. All are welcome to attend! Please let us know if you plan on joining so we can share an expected count with Franklin Avenue Mission.
