At Newton Correctional Facility in Iowa, incarcerated men have formed the Newton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship—a growing UU community within the prison centered on worship, reflection, belonging, and shared values.

The fellowship formally launched in 2025 and now includes nearly 30 members who gather regularly for spiritual community and connection.

As Rev. Dr. Michael Tino of the Church of the Larger Fellowship reflects, this ministry offers something profoundly counter to a prison system that so often defines people by their worst actions: a reminder of dignity, the possibility of transformation, and the power of love-centered community.

The Newton fellowship is also a reminder that Unitarian Universalism can take root anywhere people choose covenant, connection, and hope.

Boston 25 News coming to Framingham this Friday and will be at the Common. Parking is available at First Parish in Framingham and Plymouth Church.

Boston 25 News ZIP TRIP IS COMING TO FRAMINGHAM THIS FRIDAY!

Framingham is getting ready to welcome Boston 25’s Zip Trip on Friday, August 21, as our community takes center stage!

FOX25 will be broadcasting live from Framingham beginning at 7 a.m., with the Zip Trip live broadcast continuing from 8–10 a.m. at the historic Framingham Centre Common.

Parking is available at Plymouth Church and First Parish in Framingham Unitarian Universalist. Village Hall lot is for handicap parking only.

Mayor Charles Sisitsky will join the broadcast live at 9 a.m.

Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher will go live at 7:15 a.m.

This is a great opportunity to showcase the people, organizations, businesses and teams that make Framingham such a vibrant community.

The Supreme Court has cleared the way to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians and others, but we are fighting back.

As people of faith, we proclaim a future rooted in care, abundance, and mutuality. Ending TPS for Haitians and others is cruel, racist, and morally indefensible. We reject policies that tear families apart, destabilize communities, and place our neighbors in danger.

Join us in taking action. Take two minutes to personally and urgently call your senators and ask them to co-sponsor S. 4814, legislation that would extend TPS for Haitians and protect 350,000 immigrants from mass deportation.

Our commitment must be unwavering. This year, in collaboration with the UU Solidarity Initiative, Unitarian Universalists have submitted more than 1,000 unique public comments defending TPS, hosted action hours across the country, and transformed our Boston headquarters into temporary housing for Haitian migrants. But there is still more work to do and many more ways to get involved.
