Jesus declares in Matthew 5:6: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied."

The sermon contrasts worldly cravings (money, power, s*x) with the blessed, insatiable longing for righteousness—full obedience to God's will in Scripture. True believers seek it first (Matt. 6:33), never content with their current godliness.

Happiness is God's gift, not directly pursued but a byproduct of chasing righteousness. No appetite for it questions one's faith; God satisfies those who fiercely hunger for him.

In John 11:17–27, Jesus arrives four days after Lazarus's death. Martha expresses grief mixed with faith: "If you had been here, my brother would not have died... even now I trust you." Jesus declares, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though they die. Do you believe this?" Martha affirms: "Yes, Lord; you are the Christ, the Son of God."

The sermon stresses humanityy's fear of death versus Jesus as its conqueror—through a loving delay enabling a dramatic resurrection for God's glory. Martha's genuine faith anticipates final resurrection and eternal judgment. Faith in Jesus, proven by his empty tomb, grants eternal life by grace, giving believers hope amid grief (1 Thess. 4) and an eternal perspective.
