Here’s how Rev. Naomi Schulz describes her sermon from this morning: "Children at Play” is more than a driveway sign—it’s a vision for the world Isaiah dreams of: a world where childen are safe, nourished, and free. We glimpse that world in Jesuits comforting children in the Blitz, in underground art corners in Kharkiv, in bread shared by Community Loaves, and in the creative life of our own congregation. These small acts of care stitch the kin-dom of God into the present moment. When we love boldly and tend each other gently, peace grows.

10/26/2025 - Mark Boyd - "Let Peace Reign On Me"

Mark Boyd begins his sermon with humor, describing the endless kinds of rain known to those raised in the Pacific Northwest—sprinkles, drizzle, downpours, even “raining sideways.” He jokes about being a pluviophile—someone who finds joy in rainy days—and introduces the idea of “peace rain,” a calm and tranquil feeling that rain brings. From this, he transitions from rain (r-a-i-n) to reign (r-e-i-g-n), shifting from weather to the spiritual sense of God’s peaceful rule. The rest will be in the video. 😊

What Rev. Dave Brown says about the sermon:
"’Peace be with you’( Fox Islands theme for this month) as a call and challenge to embrace non-violence as we seek to follow the non- violent way of Jesus. The sermon concludes with four ways we can live out Jesus' non-violent path in our world today. “

Last Sunday, we heard this sermon by our then–pastoral candidate, Reverend Naomi Schulz. After the service, we joyfully voted her in as our new pastor.
10/12/2025 - Rev. Naomi Schulz - "The Shalom of the City"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJnyH0J5OII
Here’s what Rev. Naomi says about the sermon:
"This sermon is an invitation for co-creating peace, and being the peace we want to see in the world (to echo the words of MLK). It suggests that Jeremiah perceived that the Jewish exiles had the gift of shalom (caring for the welfare of all) to offer their captors in Babylon and to support their own flourishing. It draws on the story of the Northern-Irish Nobel Peace Prize laureate, John Hume, to illustrate how offering the gift of shalom to everyone, friends and enemies alike, is a foundation for building lasting peace."
