The Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana issued the following statement:

In response to the recent increase in immigration enforcement activity in our area, diocesan administration wishes to remind the faithful that the Church recognizes that those who are unable to
participate in Mass due to a “grave cause” may be excused from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass (Canon 1248 §2).

For this reason, Catholics in our diocese who reasonably fear detention, separation from family, or other threats to their safety related to immigration enforcement are dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. This dispensation applies regardless of immigration or legal status.

The Church recognizes the legitimate responsibility of civil authorities to enforce the law, and we encourage all members of our community to respect and obey the law. At the same time, our Catholic faith calls us to uphold the inherent dignity of every person and to show particular care and concern for those who may be in vulnerable situations. Every person, regardless of immigration or legal status, should be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Clergy and pastorate staff are encouraged to offer pastoral and sacramental care to individuals and families affected by immigration enforcement, responding with prudence, compassion, and respect for the dignity of every person.
