As Followers of Christ, I believe we need to practice more of this, myself included. Is it hard? Definitely, but it is what Jesus asked us to do. I don't want to act like the world acts (if you haven't noticed the world is angry and fearful), I want to act as Jesus asked me to. May He fill me with His Holy Spirit and help me to be more like Him everyday, through every action and every word I speak. May I be the hands and feet of Jesus in the uneasy and disturbed time we live in. Much Love, Cheryl 🌻

“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.
But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful". ~ Luke 27-36 New King

Our words have power to breathe hope and life into the people around us and in this vast, beautiful world we have the privilege to live in. Yes, we choose, we always have a choice of what proceeds from our mouth. There are days that we are frustrated, hurt, confused, and surrounded by joy suckers and salty people. How we react and respond to conversations and other people's actions is completely up to us. I have made mistakes in my life, as I am sure many others have; I have responded out of a place of irritation. I have not always chosen the best way. I have been sucked into conversations I wish I had ended. However, as I grow as a person and take steps back, I have come to the realization, especially of late with my health journey, life is so short. Life is a precious gift, and I want to be remembered for how I speak words of healing, words of encouragement, words of hope, words of wisdom and most importantly, with every breathe that I am able, that I speak of the goodness of my God. Even in my darkest days God has and continues to be faithful and so good to me. May the joy of the Lord be your strength today and may you go forth with words of encouragement on your lips. I so appreciate all of you my wonderful Facebook family and friends. Love, Cheryl 💜

"There have been some hard things in my life, of course, as there have been in yours, and I cannot say to you, I know exactly what you're going through. But I can say that I know the One who knows. And I've come to see that it's through the deepest suffering that God has taught me the deepest lessons." ~ Elisabeth Elliot from her book -"Suffering is Never for Nothing" 🌻

Ladies, we invite you to join us for our upcoming Bible study, “Living Joyfully”, a study in Philippians. Are you filled with joy? If this less-than-perfect world has tried to rob you of joy and fill you with fear and worry, together, let’s learn the secrets found in the book of Philippians. We will journey together to discover the truths that enabled Paul to worship in shackles, rejoice in persecution, and walk joyfully through life’s darkest places. There is a study guide that we will be using, the cost of the study guide is $5.00. Registration begins, Sunday, June 23rd. For more information about the study, please see Cheryl Ponzo.

*This study is for the women of Calvary Chapel Fountain Hills.

Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.
See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus, no spring yields both salt water and fresh. ~ James 3:5-12

UNITY. God desires unity among His people.

Paul says in Ephesians 4:11-13 "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ." In other words, the unity we pursue is unity in the truth. Of course, Christian unity is more than shared truth, but not less. Paul continues his thoughts on unity in Philippians 2:2, “fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord of one mind.” Everything is to “accord with Christ.”

May God help us to live in unity with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus. 🌻

He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” ~Matthew 16:15
Jesus asked this question two thousand years ago.
The world has literally changed practically overnight. It was a slow fade at first, now it is changing literally everyday. I go to bed perplexed by the "new" events of the day just to wake up to something even more bizarre. People are confused, angry, scared, they are searching for something to bring them peace, a little joy in a world full of chaos. We will never find peace in the things of the world, even if everything returns to what is perceived as "normal". Peter answers Jesus' question in verse 16 - Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” In John 6:68, Peter says to Jesus, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." Peter got it, Peter knew! Do you?
Who do you say that Jesus is? For me He is my Lord, my Savior. He is my comforter. He fills me with His peace, He is after all the Prince of Peace. He is my strong tower, He is my everything. Without Jesus I would be adversely mentally affected by the things going on in the world, yes, they are disturbing to witness, but my hope is in Jesus, not the things of the world. He keeps me eternally focused, He gives me strength to face each day no matter what comes. He fills me with joy. Believers, may you remember who you are in Jesus, may you remember who Jesus is! Non-Believers, I pray that if you are reading this, that you may seek out who Jesus is, invite Him to be the Lord of your life, when you do, He will be with you, He will guide you through the chaos of this world. He will comfort you and fill you with His peace and you will spend eternity with Him.
In His Love,
Cheryl 🌻
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. ~John 3:16-17
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. ~Romans 10:9-10

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God. ~ Ephesians 5:15-21 🌻
