The sermon may still be fresh in your mind…

Maybe something stood out.

Maybe a verse hit differently.

Maybe there was a moment when you thought: “Lord, I needed to hear that.”

Before the busyness of another week begins, maybe there’s another question worth asking:

⚠️ What am I going to do with what I heard?

👉 Is there something God convicted me about?

👉 Something I need to surrender?

👉 An apology I need to make?

👉 A conversation I’ve been avoiding?

👉 Something Scripture showed me that I know needs to look different in my life?

Because if I’m not careful, I can leave church encouraged, think about the message for a day or two…

and by next Sunday, be ready for another sermon without ever responding to the last one.👀

There’s nothing wrong with being eager to learn more. We should be!

‼️ But sometimes we don’t need another page of notes nearly as much as we need to put into practice what God has already shown us.

James 1:22 reminds us not to merely listen to the Word, but to do what it says.📖

So before today’s message becomes next Sunday’s forgotten notes:

Don’t just remember what you heard.
Ask God to help you live it. 🤎✝️

I’d love to hear from you! Did anything stand out in your sermon today that you felt God was speaking to you about?💭

Riverside Ladies Group News

Beginning this month we will be meeting three times a month, on the second, third and fourth Wednesdays of the month. This month’s activities will be:

2nd Wednesday, September 9th—7:00
Bible Study. “The Women of the Bible Speak, Chapter One, Sarah. (Books are in and can be picked up Sunday.)

3rd Wednesday, September 16th—7:00
Craft Night— “A Tale of Three Pumpkins”

4th Wednesday, September 23—6:00
Dinner (Location still to be determined.)

We plan to try this monthly schedule until Christmas and then reassess to see what is working. The craft nights and dinners out are intended to be outreach activities that are non threatening for friends who might not feel comfortable visiting a church service yet. The Bible study night is for spiritual growth and bonding for our ladies’ community.

We understand that everyone may not be able to attend everything. We are trying to find a way for some of the ladies who don’t drive at night to join for the Bible study via Zoom. Please let us know if you would be interested in this. At the very least, we can all be studying the same monthly topic. I will also start a separate phone thread for discussion about what we are studying, in addition to the one we already have for announcements, encouragement and prayer requests.

It’s an exciting time to grow together as a multigenerational group of women who love the Lord and each other! Who knows where this may take us!

Great news! We will be starting a Celebrate Recovery ministry this Thursday, September 3, at 6:30. If there are any aspects of life that have been difficult to handle, please come join us as we all seek to walk in the healing of Christ!

Life in the Concentration Camp:

A few days before Betsie died, while sleeping next to her sister in the cot they shared at Ravensbruck concentration camp, she said:

Betsie: "Are you awake, Corrie?"

Corrie: "Yes, you wakened me."

Betsie: "I had to. I need to tell you what God has said to me...Corrie, there is so much bitterness. We must tell them that the Holy Spirit will fill their hearts with God's love...we will travel the world bringing the gospel to all--our friends as well as our enemies."

Corrie: "To all the world? But that will take much money."

Bestie: "Yes, but God will provide. We must do nothing else but bring the gospel, and He will take care of us. After all, He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. If we need money, we will just ask the Father to sell a few cows."

Corrie: "What a privilege...to travel the world and be used by the Lord Jesus."

—Corrie ten Boom, Tramp For The Lord (excerpt)

"...God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us." Romans 5:5 (AMP)
