In the opening chapters of Genesis (1-11), we see the enmity of Satan against the promised Seed (Christ) of the woman in his attempts to disrupt the bloodline to Christ. During this time, God was dealing with mankind as a whole. This morning, we look at how God narrowed down His focus to deal with one man, Abraham, and one nation, Israel, that God would make from him. It was through this nation that God would bring His Son and our Redeemer into the world. We examine two aspects of Abraham's faith: 1) his obedience to God's initial call to come out from among them and 2) his willingness to live as a stranger and pilgrim in the land that God promised him. Abraham had faith in God's purpose for his life and in God's promises to him and his descendants.

"Abraham - Faith Obeying God's Call" (Hebrews 11:8-10, 13-16)

This morning, we look at the faith of Noah, who found grace in the eyes of the Lord. In the face of the coming devastating judgment of the flood, God divinely warned and instructed him how to save not only his family but also to preserve all living creatures upon the earth. Noah, by faith, moved to do the tremendous work that would be required to prepare the ark and, during the time that he built, he also witnessed for God as a "preacher of righteousness."

Good morning! We continue looking at the Hall of Faith found in Hebrews 11.

"Noah - Faith Working and Witnessing for God" (Heb. 11:7)

This morning, we look at the faith of Noah, who found grace in the eyes of the Lord. In the face of the coming devastating judgment of the flood, God divinely warned and instructed him how to save not only his family but also to preserve all living creatures upon the earth. In the 5th chapter of Genesis we find the book of the genealogy of Adam. It is a record of death, for as it describes each man in his lineage, it concludes with the statement "and he died." The one exception to this is the 7th man from Adam, a man named Enoch.Instead of saying "and he died," it says of him that "he was not for God took him." This is the reason he is listed in the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11. This morning, we look at the faith of Enoch, a man who "walked with God" and was well-pleasing to God, and how he came to be taken by God so that he did not experience physical death.

We continue looking at Hebrews 11, the "Faith Chapter" or the "Hall of Faith," which describes men and women in the Old Testament who lived out their faith. God uses their acts of faith to teach us the nature or character of true faith, showing what faith looks like in the life of a believer. This morning, we consider the faith of Abel, who brought an offering to worship God by faith. He stands in contrast to his brother, Cain, who tried to worship God in his own way based on his own works. Though this account is one of the oldest in the Bible, it still speaks to teach important truths that people need to heed today.
