đź“– Bible Study Highlights with Pastor Johnson

Tonight's study challenged us to examine where we stand spiritually as we looked at Revelation 3, the churches of Philadelphia and Laodicea, and God's call to grow in grace.

One of the central questions was: What are we doing with the truth God has already revealed to us?

The church of Philadelphia received no rebuke from the Lord. They were faithful, obedient, and committed to walking in the truth they had received. In contrast, the church of Laodicea was rebuked for being lukewarm—knowing truth but failing to fully embrace and live it.

We discussed how God gives grace not as permission to remain the same, but as an opportunity to grow. Romans 5 teaches that where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. Yet Romans 6 reminds us that grace is not a license to continue in sin. God's grace calls us higher.

đź“– "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 3:18)

Growth requires action. Peter teaches us to add to our faith virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and charity. He concludes by saying:

đź“– "For if ye do these things, ye shall never fall." (2 Peter 1:10)

As believers, we cannot remain where we started. The Lord continues to reveal truth to those who are willing to obey what they already know. We are responsible not only for hearing God's Word but for living it.

A powerful thought from tonight's lesson:

The question is not always what we don't know. The greater question is: What are we doing with what God has already shown us?

As we study church history and the prophetic messages to the churches, we see two spiritual conditions operating today side by side:

🔹 Philadelphia – pursuing truth, restoration, obedience, and spiritual maturity.

🔹 Laodicea – complacency, lukewarmness, and satisfaction with partial truth.

The challenge for each of us is to examine ourselves and determine which spirit we are embracing.

As we continue this study, we will explore the question:

What is God saying and doing right now?

May we be a people who hunger for the whole counsel of God, walk in the grace we've been given, and continue pressing toward Christ in obedience and truth.

📯 HEARING THE RIGHT SOUND 📯

Today's message reminded us that God instructed Moses to make silver trumpets for three purposes:

âś… To gather the people
âś… To direct the movement of the people
âś… To call the people to worship

In Joshua 6, the children of Israel stood before Jericho facing an impossible situation. God's instructions didn't seem to make sense. For six days they simply walked. On the seventh day, they marched, the trumpets sounded, and the people shouted. The walls came down not because of their strength, but because of their obedience.

The trumpet had to give a distinct sound so the people would know what to do. The same is true today. God's Word gives a clear sound. His message is not confusing. It tells us how to live, where to go, and how to worship.

The question is not, "Do I understand everything God is doing?" The question is, "Am I willing to obey what God has said?"

When we hear the sound of Christ through His Word and follow His instructions, victory follows obedience.

đź“– "For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?" (1 Corinthians 14:8)

This week, listen for the sound of God's Word, follow His instruction, and trust Him even when the path doesn't make sense. The walls may not fall immediately, but obedience will always lead to victory.

Sunday Service Recap

What a powerful testimony and reminder of God's faithfulness from Elder Charles Hall today!

He shared how God began dealing with his heart through someone who faithfully witnessed to him about Jesus. One simple invitation to church led to a life-changing encounter with God. At a stop sign, he surrendered his will and told God, "Wherever You want me to be, that's where I'll go." When he opened his eyes, he found himself sitting in front of the church.

From that moment forward, his life was never the same.

His testimony reminded us that faith is not about seeing the entire path—it's about trusting God enough to take the next step. Through life's challenges, family situations, health concerns, and business decisions, God has remained faithful.

Three keys from today's message:
✔️ Believe God
✔️ Trust God
✔️ Take Action

Faith requires movement. God is looking for people who will trust Him even when they cannot see the outcome.

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." — 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV)

May we all be encouraged this week to trust God's direction, wait on His timing, and believe that He is working all things together for our good.

Tuesday night Bible Study with Pastor Hurd

God is not just trying to correct our behavior… He is transforming our nature.
The cherubims in Ezekiel operated in complete order, unity, and surrender in the presence of God. No confusion. No chaos. No constant correction. What a picture of what God desires His people to become.
“God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”
His light doesn’t expose us to shame us — it exposes us so He can cleanse, heal, and restore us. We spend so much time focusing on what not to do, but holiness is also about becoming what God called us to be.

Relationship over religion.
Transformation over performance.

Truth that changes the heart, not just outward actions. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. That kind of love should change how we see both God and people.

We were blessed today to have Pastor Norman Hurd from Denver, Colorado. Todays message was on Transformation.
He reminded us that God is not trying to improve the old man—He is trying to make us new. Transformation is a process, and it requires choice, surrender, maturity, and daily obedience to the Word of God.
We were challenged to remember:
You are not a victim of your circumstances—you are responsible for your choices.
Whatever you surrender control to will eventually control you.
God is exposing root issues, not to shame us, but to transform us.
Church is not just for fellowship—it is preparation for His return.
Jesus came first as a servant, but He is coming again as King.
The question left before us was simple yet weighty:
Are we truly being transformed… or have we merely adjusted our behavior?
Little by little, day by day, Jesus is changing us—if we will let Him.
Thank you, Pastor Hurd, for allowing God to use you to challenge and prepare His people.

Today our hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of our former pastor and overseer. Yet we hold on to the blessed hope that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

He has now received the reward he preached, lived, and sacrificed for. He gave his life to the work of God, building churches, touching lives, leading souls to Christ, and showing love through his actions.

Pastor Johnson and I are so grateful for his love, guidance, and the example he set before us. We are products of his legacy, and that legacy will continue to live on through us and through our children. One of the greatest parts of his legacy was teaching people how to find God, know Him for themselves, and develop a real relationship with this great God we serve.

We are saddened by this loss, but we trust that God knows what He is doing. Praying for his wife Sis. Alyce, daughters Sis. Debroah and Sis. April, family, church family, and all those who were blessed by his life and ministry.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant...” Matthew 25:21

He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Families, now is the time to invest in our youth through prayer, support, and involvement. Every event, service, and retreat is a seed being planted.

We are looking forward to the South Regional Youth Meeting May 22-23 in Longview and the Youth Retreat June 26-28 in Denton. We believe God is going to do great things in the lives of our young people!

🔥 Service Recap: Don’t Get Stuck in Nostalgia 🔥
Pastor Johnson, Houma Louisiana Sat Morning April 4, 2026
The brazen serpent once brought healing—but when God moved, it became something people wrongly held onto. What used to be a blessing can become a distraction if God is no longer in it.
💡 We can’t keep looking at what God has moved from… we must keep our eyes on Jesus.
🙌 We lift Him up through how we live, how we love, and how we obey Him daily.
It’s not about the method—it’s about the Master.

Service Recap – Pastor Johnson

Today’s message reminded us that we are in a spiritual war, and in every war there is structure. There is a Chief Commander who gives the orders, and those orders are meant to be followed. As believers, God is our Chief Commander, and His Word gives us the instructions we must follow.

Pastor Johnson taught from Deuteronomy 6, explaining the text the word “hear” means more than simply listening—it means to hear with the intention to obey. When God gives a command, He expects action. Hearing God requires a willing heart that is ready to do what He says.

Isaiah 1:19 reminds us:
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.”

Sometimes the instructions of God may not make sense to our natural mind, but obedience brings victory. Just as Joshua and the children of Israel followed God’s instructions at Jericho—even when it seemed unusual—their obedience caused the walls to fall.

We were also reminded that in order to stay prepared for this spiritual battle, we must be washed by the Word.

Ephesians 5:26 tells us we are cleansed by “the washing of water by the word.” Just like natural soap and water cleanse the body, the Word of God cleanses our hearts and spirits.

Through prayer, worship, fasting, reading the Word, and allowing the Holy Ghost to work within us, God washes us and prepares us for the battles we face.

James 1:19 encourages us to be:
“Swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.”

As we gather together in worship and allow the Spirit to lead us in songs and praise, God meets us in His presence and continues the work of cleansing and strengthening His people.

The challenge for us this week:
Not just to hear the Word—but to obey it. Because when we hear God and follow His commands, we position ourselves for victory in the spiritual war.
