We exist to saturate Fort Worth with the glory and grace of Jesus. We love Jesus and we love Fort Worth.

“Let me find thy light in my darkness; thy life in my death; thy joy in my sorrow; thy grace in my sin; thy riches in my poverty; thy glory in my valley.” –The Paradox

Week Two in 1 Corinthians revealed the heart issue underneath every division and the three questions Paul uses to expose it.

Where are you getting your wisdom?
Where are you getting your confidence?
What is your faith actually in?

Paul’s answer to all three is a person, not a philosophy. God chose the foolish, the weak, the low, the despised… not because they were impressive, but because they were nothing.

Which means his love isn’t based on you, and you can’t lose it. This is good news for all people.

“Or you can ask AI, and they’ll tell you something.”

Advice has never been easier to get, but wisdom is a different thing. It comes from the Spirit of God, through his word and through his people.

“Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.” (1 Corinthians 2:12)

What Jesus calls you is more true than what you call yourself.

Paul’s first word to the church wasn’t a correction. It was “saints.” Not because they had cleaned themselves up — but because Jesus had made them clean.

That’s the ground you stand on. Not your track record. His.

“To those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints.” — 1 Cor. 1:2

“I was a little numb to the Lord.”

Tiffany didn’t walk into Redemption Groups with a crisis. She walked in feeling a quiet distance from God, and that was enough. Jesus died and rose to give her a living heart, not a numb one, and he does the same for anyone who comes to him.

“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26)

Redemption Groups is a small group at Paradox that works through the gospel together and lets it reach the places people have gone numb.

In Corinth the symbol was winning. In America it’s platform. The gospel’s symbol is a cross.

The cross of Jesus tells you two things at once. You are more lost and sinful than you want to admit. And you are more loved and valued than you dare to hope, worth the cost God himself paid to rescue you.

“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)

God’s word is not just preached at Paradox. It’s handed down.

This Sunday we launched our new sermon series through 1 Corinthians and commissioned our first graders with Bibles of their own.

The gospel that is saving us is the gospel we place in the next generation’s hands. Jesus crucified and risen, for Corinth, for Fort Worth, and for you.

“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)
