WHY DID JESUS DIE ON THE CROSS?
I personally believe that there were many, many reasons He died on the cross. The Old Testament requires a blood sacrifice to atone for sins. His death on the cross atoned for the sins of humanity. My sins. Your sins. But an often overlooked reason for the crucifixion was to glorify God. Glorify the name of God.
Think about this:
God wrote the Old Testament. In the Old Testament there were over 300 exact prophecies (predictions) concening Jesus. His birth, His works, His death, etc. Why would God write these prophecies unless God wanted us to take special notice of Jesus? And why would the person that God calls attention to by prophecy, have to die?
Did Jesus die on the cross so that every person can see the exact fulfillment of God's written word? So that every person can read God's word and know that it is true? I think so.
I am in personal awe that the Living God took the time to write the prophecies. I am in personal awe that Jesus sacrificed His life to fulfill the prophecies.
As a lawyer, I am utterly convinced of the reality and the truth of Jesus. The evidence is simply overwhelming. I believe.
Thank you for allowing me to write these words.
May I pray?
Father, my God, my Lord, please hear my prayer this Thursday morning. Father, I beg you, please forgive me. I acknowledge that I am the worst sinner of all. I have repeatedly failed you. Yet you continue to forgive me and you continue to use me. My God, I ask today that you use me to do your will, not my own will. Your will be done. My Father, I ask that you give me the words to say as I walk on this earth today. My Father, I thank you for all your works. I proclaim that Thou art the Lord. You own all things, You know all things. You are God. Jesus is the Son of God, Amen. Dale
P.S. I love each of you !

Jesus tells us to "Repent" at least 14 times in the New Testament. He uses the literal word "Repent."
If Jesus says it, I am doing it. Many people in today's world tell us that for eternal salvation, all we have to do is believe in Jesus. As for me, I choose to obey Jesus. If Jesus said it, I will try to do it. Remeber, even the demons "believed in Jesus."

Today Is Easter and We Celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus.

As a Lawyer. I went to the Bible looking for actual evidence that would prove the Resurrection of Jesus. Please join me!

PROOF OF THE RESURRECTION:

Paul writes that over 500 people saw the resurrected Jesus as he walked this earth after his crucifixion. But the most interesting aspect of Paul’s assertion that there were 500 witnesses, is Paul saying that at the time of his writing that “many of them (the witnesses) are still alive.”
Still alive? That means that when Paul wrote the letter that later became the book of 1 Corinthians, that many of the witnesses were still alive! That means that if anyone doubted Paul, then the doubter could personally question the witnesses. Ask them what they saw. Compare the testimony of the different witnesses. Walk down a dusty road to the next village and interview and examine additional witnesses to the resurrection!
As a lawyer, If Paul wrote that most of the 500 witnesses were still alive (and he did write that), then I believe the writings of Paul. There would simply be too many people to cross examine to doubt their veracity. In fact, Paul implies that the majority of the 500 witnesses were still alive at the time of his writings!
MORE PROOF OF THE RESURRECTION:
In addition to the 500 witnesses above, Jesus appeared to his disciples after his crucifixion. These disciples were witnesses to the resurrection. They told other people throughout the land, and Christianity grew. In fact it grew so large and so fast, that the Roman government decided to extinguish Christianity. Emperor Trajan of the Roman empire had 47 Christian leaders arrested and brought to him for questioning. The leaders, including the witnesses to the resurrection, were told their lives would be spared if they only renounced the resurrection of Jesus and worshiped Emperor Trajan.
Every disciple in the group chose to die rather than state that the resurrection never happened!
The Roman army was the most powerful force in the world at that time. To defy Rome meant certain death. But these humble fishermen and tax collectors and ragged individuals chose to stand up to Rome and accept death rather than deny the resurrection!
As a lawyer, I am convinced that these disciples saw the resurrected Jesus after the crucifixion! Why else would they choose to die? If they had not seen the resurrected Jesus, then they would be dying for a lie that they knew to be a lie! If you knew something was a lie, would you die for it? NO!
As a lawyer, I believe the martyred disciples witnessed the resurrected Jesus!
EVEN MORE PROOF OF THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS
Paul wrote most of the New Testament. But before he was Paul, he was Saul. Saul was a zealot Jew, dedicated to preserving and protecting the Jewish faith. Saul dedicated his life to persecuting and killing the early Christians. In fact, Saul was so dedicated to the persecution of Christians, that he participated in the stoning and death of Timothy, one of the disciples.
But according to Saul, as written by his own hands, as he was walking down a road (the road to Damascus) pursuing Christians, a blinding light struck him down. Saul asked the light who he was. The light answered, “I am Jesus, who you persecute.” Saul was forever changed. The light temporarily blinded him. Saul recovered and became a believer! He had a personal interaction with the resurrected Jesus. Saul, once a persecutor and murderer of Christians, became a Christian! He believed! He changed his name to Paul and spent the remainder of his life testifying about the resurrection of Jesus.
Paul endured great hardships as he traveled and testified for Jesus. Paul was arrested, beaten, flogged and ridiculed for his testimony of Jesus. But he never wavered.
Paul endured shipwrecks in his journey for Jesus, but he continued on.
Paul endured all kinds of abuse and cruelty as he testified for Jesus. As a lawyer, and as I look at the life of Paul, I believe in the resurrection! Why else would Paul dramatically change the entire purpose of his life unless he had seen the resurrected Jesus? Why would Paul take beatings and imprisonment for the sake of Jesus unless he believed in the resurrection of Jesus? As a lawyer, the life of Paul proves to me that the resurrection of Jesus really happened, that Paul witnessed the resurrected Jesus, and that Paul’s works prove it!

As a lawyer, I believe! And I pray that you too believe. Your eternal soul rests on this belief. Please join me no, and if you believe, say this prayer.

"Father, I believe in You. Father, I beleive that You sent Your Son Jesus to redeem our souls. I believe that Jesus died on the cross, was buried in the grave, and arose on the third day. I beleive that Jesus is the Son of God. I give my life to Jeus. I will be baptized, I will repent of my sins, and I will beleive.. Amen"

Good morning! Good Friday! May I pray?
Heavenly Father, thank You Lord. Thank You for this day. What many of us call "Good Friday." Thank You for allowing us to worship in a free country. Thank You for creating the events and history that have lead up to this day that we call "Good Friday."
Father, You have revealed Yourself through these things, these events, this history, this divine revelation.
Father, You wrote the Old Testament. You wrote the Old Testament hundreds of years before the appearance of Your Son the Messiah.
Father, with all the demands for Your attention, You personally wrote the Old Testament, painfully taking precious time to write in detail about the future in detailed prophecies, leading up to this Good Friday.
Father, You wrote that a Messiah would appear. And that He would die for a purpose. Zechariah 13:7 is the scripture Jesus quoted: “God will strike the shepherd and his sheep will scatter.” Isaiah 53:7b says, “He was led like a lamb to the slaughter and as a sheep is silent before shearers, He never said a word.” Psalm 22:16 states, “My enemies surround me like a pack of dogs; an evil gang closes in on me. They have pierced my hands and feet.”
Father, you allowed King David's hands to write this scripture in approximately 900 B.C.; when crucifixion had not yet even been invented. Jesus was beaten with a lead-tipped whip that ripped His flesh from his back. Isaiah 50:6 says, “I offered my back to those who beat me and my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard. I did not hide my face from mockery and spitting.” Psalm 22:14a, 15: “My life is poured out of me like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My strength has dried up like sun-baked clay, My tongue sticks to the roof of My mouth.
Father, you wrote Psalm 69:21b: “They offer me sour wine for my thirst.” Father, you allowed the soldier to offer Jesus wine mixed with gall, rather than water for His thirst. Psalm 22:7-8a: “Everyone who sees me mocks me, they sneer and shake their heads saying, Is this the One who relies on God? Then let the Lord save Him!”
Father, Jesus could have come down off the cross at any time and had myriads of angels at His disposal; but instead, He said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” Psalm 109:4 states, “I love them but they try to destroy me with accusations even as I am praying for them!” Psalm 22:18, “They divide my garments among themselves and throw dice for my clothing. Matthew 27:35 states: And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, 'They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots'.
Father, David cried out this verse 900 years earlier and Jesus quoted the same scripture while hanging on the cross carrying our burden of sin. Psalm 31:5a, “I entrust my Spirit into Your Hand.” The Roman soldiers usually broke the legs of the person being crucified; but when they came to do so to Jesus, He was already dead. Psalm 34:20, “For the Lord protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken!”
Father, after Jesus was taken from the cross, Joseph of Arimathea came to claim His body. Joseph was a secret follower of Jesus and gave him his tomb. Isaiah 53: 9c, “He was put in a rich man’s grave.” Psalm 16:10, “For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your Holy One to rot in the grave.” Isaiah 26:19, “But those who die in the Lord will live; their bodies will rise again!! HE IS RISEN!! PRAISE HIM!!”
Father, thank You for these divine revelations.
Father, may all who read these words take a moment and wonder: Why would the Living God take time to write these detailed prophecies?
Father, may people ask themselves: Why would the Living God publicly proclaim that Jesus is His Son?
Father, may all peoples ask: why, in all the history of mankind, is there only One person who can fulfill all these prophecies?
Father, please reveal to Your people that the answer is that Jesus, on this good Friday, thousands of years ago, died on the cross, in exactly the time, manner, method and location that God Himself personally foretold.
Father, I ask that all people pause this day. Father I ask that all peple reflect this day. Father I ask that every person who reads these words ask themselves: "Why would God, the God that created the universe, why would that God be so intimately involved in the details of one penniless teacher who walked the dusty streets of the middle East two thousand years ago?
Father I ask that all people realize the impossible task of one man fulfilling all these prophecies, unless in Your divine wisdom and divine power you ordained it to be.
Father, I personally ask, I beg, that you forgive me. I am a wretch.
Thank You my Lord for your intervention. That You my Lord for Your plan. Thank You my Lord for Your gace.
For thou art the Living God.
And I beg that I may serve you and only you. I beg that I might do Your bidding. I beg that I might please You.
And I beg these things for all peoples of all kinds across the face of this earth that You created.
Amen.
(forgive my typos Father)

Why did Jesus die on the cross? I think there are several reasons:

First, every Christian believes that Jesus died on the Cross in order for humanity to be saved. The Old Testament required a blood sacrifice for forgiveness of sins. For the forgiveness of all sins for all of humanity, a special sacrifice was needed. A perfect man, perfect blood, the Son of God. So that all who believed in Jesus and made him their personal Lord would be saved for eternity.

But what if there were another reason? A reason for the crucifixion that often goes unnoticed?

The book of John quotes Jesus as saying the crucifixion was to "glorify God."

How could the crucifixion of the Son of God glorify God?

Perhaps this was God's way of showing that God knows all, and that God controls all.

Consider: God wrote the Old Testament. God wrote the Old Testament hundreds of years before the events of the New Testament. Therefore, God wrote over 300 specific predictions in the old Testament concerning Jesus.

Upon the crucufixion and resurrection of Jesus, 300 prophecies were fulfilled. 300 prophecies showing that God knows all and reveals all and that God alone knows every future act, every future event.

God was glorified when those 300 prophecies were exactly fulfilled.

Please join me as we seek eternal salvation through the redeeming works of Jesus. Trust in the perfect words and perfect works of God and Jesus.

Believe. Obey. Rejoice. Amen

Have you ever thought about eternity? How long will eternity last? Where will you be for eternity?

A wise man once described eternity this way: Imagine a stainless steel ball the size of earth. And on that steel ball was one ant. And that ant walked non stop across the face of that steel ball, never stopping. And once that solitary ant had worn down that stainless steel ball to the size of a marble, that is the BEGINNING OF ETERNITY. That is how long eternity will be. Never ending.

Have you ever thought about where you will spend eternity? The Bible, The Holy Word of God, tells us how to determine where we will spend eternity. Beginning thousands of years before Jesus appeared on the earth, the Bible began speaking of Jesus. The Old Testament gave hundreds of prophecies about one man and one man alone. The Old Testament, a document with every letter and every word written by God and chosen by the Living God, spends pages and pages writing about Jesus.

Jesus openly states that "no man comes to the Father but through me."

I beg you today. Open up your Bible, open up your heart, and accept Jesus. Seek Jesus. Obey Jesus. Get a Bible and read the words of Jesus. Consider the impact. Your eternal life.

You choose: a life in Heaven or a life in Hell.

I choose Heaven. I choose Jesus. I hope you choose the same!

I love you, Dale

Many of us are going through difficult times. Experiencing personal loss. Pain. Tears. Uncertainty of our future.

But have hope. God has sent Jesus to help us. To comfort us. Jesus is the way to get throught difficult times while on this earth.

Jesus is the only way to ever have eternal life. Jesus is God's plan and method for each of us to put sorrow behind us. To be healed. To wipe away tears.

How do I know that we can trust Jesus? Because God said so.

God wrote The Old Testament hundreds of years before Jesus appeared in the flesh on this earth.

And The Old Testament has over 300 prophesies about Jesus. Specific, "fingerprint ID" prophecies that no other person could ever fulfill. God calls our attention to Jesus.

Later, twice in the New Testament God specifically speaks from heaven about Jesus. Speaking to a large crowd, God says about Jesus, "This is My Son who I have chosen. Listen to Him." Luke 9:35

Also in Matthew 17:5, Mark 1:11, etc.

Difficult tmes? God says to turn to Jesus. Talk to Jesus. Seek Jesus. Honor Jesus. Believe in Jesus. Be healed. Have hope. Do not be discouraged.

Know that your troubles are temporary. Look forward to an eternity of perfection with no tears. No pain. No Heartbreak.

Know Jesus.

I love you.
