I have not been on here in a good amount of time, I noticed that the website did not carry over my daily devos. Well, I just happen to have them!
Written in 2022, I may be getting the itch to start writing again!
This is the devotional that started my own writing, I have gone back and edited it some. This was written almost 6 1/2 months ago, since then I have written probably close to 130 more.
“The words that changed my life.”
It was winter of 2017, Georgia was having one of its worst snowstorms in their history. Here I was driving a rental car in the Kennesaw Mountains to meet a man I had spoken to once on the phone.
I arrived at a beautiful cabin about midway up in the mountain range. There I sat with a Retired Army Ranger Colonel, he had been through both the last two wars. A leader of many men, who was a great motivator. He was respected by his men, and he had invited me to Georgia to discuss helping Veterans.
Little did I know this trip would change my life. It was changed by these 15 words…
"Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change"
How did this change my life? Fast forward…
It was 2019, I had just separated from my wife and about to be divorced. My world was thrown upside down, and I was scared. Change is hard for us as humans, we become comfortable in our environment. I knew for myself, my son and my future that change was necessary.
The quote above became my mantra, for everything I did, when I ran into problems they became opportunities. Personal failures became reasons for my success stories, and so on. I saw everything through a different lens, I was calm where I once was anxious. I was methodical, where I usually would be careless.
Here's why I am saying this, one of you that I send these to are looking at your life, your kids, or your career and wondering where you went wrong. I'm here to tell you, you DID NOT GO WRONG! Everything you do today is preparing you for tomorrow’s successes. We tend to cross lines between our plan and God's plan. One's a vision and the other is "THE WAY"
I've realized that not everyone has visions of becoming one of the wealthiest men in the world, because wealth is seen in so many different measurements. To some it may be financial, others spiritual, and to some it might just be their family. All of these can bring “wealth” to us.
Look around me, I have people that hear a ding at 6:00-7:00 am every morning and say "there's Paul." I have friends that would die for me, I have a girlfriend (now Fiance) that God put back in my life to show me the riches that HIS PLAN had for me.
If you run into a situation where you feel like it's not right or not fair, think about the quote above. Say it a few times... but most of all remember who's PLAN we need to see our lives out of.
How did I end up with this one today? What made me go back and read it? Don’t know, but I trust his plan.
Why did I choose to go back and edit? Because, you can’t change the past but in the future you might change the way you look at things.
