Good morning 230224,
Devotional in John – True Light
Jo 1:9
[That] was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Pondering here got me to thinking, “What is the difference between true light and false light?”

Physically, manufactured light can make things look very different in color and texture than when under sunlight.
Spiritually, there are differences between the light of Christ, true light, and Satan, the angel of light – Manufactured light – False prophets, false professions, false doctrines, and false bibles.

John was set to bear witness of the true light – Christ. So are we. So, Beware!
It is imperative that we be careful where we source our light from. Satan is very deceptive. We want the true light, Christ, to be seen in and through us.

Good morning 230222,
Devotional in Job – Acquaint
Job 22:21
Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

To acquaint yourself with someone or to know them as an acquaintance are two different things.
If Christ is just an acquaintance of yours, then you don’t really know Him, or you only know Him by hearsay, or by bible skimming.

Get to know Him. Acquaint yourself with Him. There is a promise in the action. You will get to know peace and goodness in your life.
Even if you think you have that now without Christ, it’s just an illusion of carnal peace which will be gone one day.

Pick up your bible and get to know Him. Add lasting peace and goodness to your life.

Good morning 230221,
Devotional in John – Grace
Jo 1:16
And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

We can never exhaust the riches of the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We can receive:
Saving grace
Justifying grace
Standing grace
Boundless grace
Working grace
Serving grace
Testing & Opposition grace
Sufficient grace
Strengthening grace
Abounding grace
Giving grace
Grace for every need.

Therefore, continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Good morning 230220
Devotional in John – Worship
Jo 4:24
God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.

Worship.
We now have worship services, worship choruses, worship teams, worship manuals, and worship seminars. Contemporary praise and worship seem to be following Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25 with their hard rock, fog emitting, clamor for praise; their ethereal drone music with its endless repetition of a phrase while hands and bodies list and wave for worship; their 15-minute devotional for feelings motivation; and no real preaching for conviction of sin and righteousness at all.

True worship is submitting to and doing God’s will. It has the intonation of bowing down physically and spiritually to give submission and obeisance to the Lord as made known by His written Word and the guidance of His Holy Spirit, thereby glorifying Christ.

It is no wonder we have who we have governing us. There is little substance of spirit or truth in the guidance of man’s spiritual nature these days. Everyone is doing that which is right in their own eyes instead of God’s eyes as expounded by His word. – Especially in contemporary worship services.

God help us. We need real revival!

Good morning 230218,
Devotional in Proverbs – Providence
Pr 16:9
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

Some call this good or bad luck of which we have no control. Christians call it providence.
We all need to plan and do all we can to make our way in life upright in character and successful in the journey. Nonetheless, hard times fall on everyone just like the rain.

But God has the final say. So, if we strive to listen to and follow Him, even the hard times will be worked out for our good. This promise is not given to the unbeliever. It’s not luck. It’s belief in the one who has the final say…Christ.

Good morning 230217,
Devotional in James – Grace
Ja 4:6
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Grace. God’s riches at Christ’s expense. Getting the blessing that we do not deserve.
1. Grace is promised – More grace, grace upon grace! Inexhaustible and always there when we need it.
2. Grace is prohibited – The proud receive no grace. Pride makes everyone sick, but the one who has it does not even know he is dying without grace.
3. Grace is provided – The humble, not the sinless, are the ones who are able to receive the promised grace.

Grace is amply set on the table, reach out for it to get it. Accepting Christ is the reaching.

Good morning 230216,
Devotional in Matthew – Call
Mt 4:19-20
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20 And they straightway left [their] nets, and followed him.

The calling of the 12 disciples, later to be name apostles, was characterized by a few phrases that children of all ages should be aware of when called by their parents:
Straightway
Immediately
Forsook All

Sadly, that is not the case today. Many parents redundantly iterate phrases such as: “Stop that, Don’t…, If you don’t stop that, I’ll… “ But they never follow through and the child keeps up the unacceptable behavior until he or she gets their way.

I don’t know…There was a healthy respect when my parents called. We forsook all, dropped what we were doing and straightway, immediately came running. Acceptable adult behavior begins in the home.

Many balk at the call from Christ just as they do with their parents, but He will brook no argument, and the call will not last much longer.

Good morning 230215,
Devotional in Acts – Lively Oracles
Ac 7:38
This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us.

Lively Oracles – One of those phrases that just sounds cool when it is said.
Stephen is specifically pointing to the Ten Commandments, but they include the entire word of God which is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword – A discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Two basic facets to the oracles – Our relationship to God and our relationship to man.

If our relationship to God is by the oracles - Then our relationship to man will be much more solid and easier to stand for righteousness while being merciful and gracious, because what is legal and humane in man’s eyes is not always right in God’s eyes.

Good morning 230210,
Devotional in John – Not Yet
Jo 8:20
These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

“Are we there yet?” What parent has not heard these words? The answer is usually, no, or not yet. Then all we hear…The sound of a painful sigh emitting.

Christ’s hour on the cross and his resurrection did finally come and brought with it unbelievable blessings. But there are still some things not yet to come for which we must painfully await.

Though we be burdened with unrelenting pain and misery of disease or adversity, and the only answer we hear to prayer is, “Not yet,” take heart for Christ does not leave us floundering in the meantime. He gives us strength and sufficient grace to walk by faith until…

In the twinkling of an eye, everything changes, and the, “Not yet,” becomes, “Come up here!”

Good morning 230209,
Devotional in Proverbs – Ants
Pr 6:6
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

Ants are industrious. We should be also. Those that won’t work – let them starve (Not eat). (I think that is scriptural.) And by the way, the only lazy ant I’ve ever seen is a dead ant.

Ants are communicative and honest. We should be also. Families with dishonest, abnormal, or no communication are dysfunctional. So goes the family, so goes the nation. Look at our government. What does that say about our families today?

Ants fulfill their God given purpose. We should also. Our purpose is to Glorify God today in our work and our communication – But honestly?..…

That cannot be done outside of Christ. Think about it.

Good morning 230208,
Devotional in John - Difference
Jo 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

The difference is the unregenerate do not love Christ, nor put any authoritative value in the Bible. "True Christians" do.

This verse is not a call or requirement to become a Christian. It is how to live once a person becomes a Christian.

Our final rule of faith and authority is the Word of God.
Live it. Believe it. Follow it. Talk it.

We are different.

Good morning 230207,
Devotional in Revelation - All Things
Re 4:11
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
All things...
Hummm...
I'm trying...
Really, I'm trying...

But I can't seem to get any other meaning from that but...
All things.
As part of the all things, give Christ praise, glory, and honor today.
He is worthy and worth it.
