What Makes A "Good Church"?

Conversations With The Evangelist from Jubilee Park in Van Wert, Ohio. Today we look at an important topic that has been on Evangelist James Carter's heart for some time. Most people say they go to a "Good" church or have a "Good" Pastor. But if the Biblical definition is applied, is that really the case?

No it is not. Jesus, Paul, and all of the Writers of the New Testament tell us what the Church is and what it should be doing. In order to have God be pleased with our Church we must first and foremost LIVE out the commands Jesus gave. And He said they can be boiled down to two.

Love your God with all you are. And Love your neighbor as yourself. It is that simple and that complicated. If we are not living those commands out every moment of every day and if our "Church" is not practicing those things every moment of every day, then we are falling short and need to do better.

Have you lost someone you deeply cared about or loved? Is someone you deeply care about or love seriously ill and possibly going to pass soon?

The Bible gives us advice on how to handle that situation. No, it is not what so many have said for so long: Don't show emotion and just get over it. That is ridiculous.

The Bible tells us it is okay to grieve but we do not have to do it like the World does. We can experience Hope and Joy while also grieving. How? Why?

Because if we know that person is or was in a Relationship with Jesus of Nazareth, and we are as well, then we know we will see them again. Very Soon. When our Body dies, falls asleep, it is but a temporary situation. And I am not talking about Ghosts. Rather at that moment, our Soul and Spirit go either to stand in the Presence of the God who loves us more than life itself or straight to Hell to await the Final Judgment. For those who are in Christ, we know we will join Him. Then one day all who have died will be bodily resurrected just as was. That is our Promise. They are not gone forever. Just gone ahead. So rejoice that their Earthly Suffering is over and they are waiting for you in Paradise.

At the same time, we need to understand that before God created the Heavens and the Earth He predestined when every single person who would ever live would be born and when they would die. Someone's death may come as a surprise or even a shock to us. But not to God. That is why it is so important that we take advantage of every opportunity to make it right with someone we are estranged from or who we have been putting off seeing and speaking to. We may not be given another chance. I learned that this week anew. Don't make the same mistake.

Where You Go...

We read that when Naomi found herself widowed and childless in a foreign land, meaning her life was essentially over, she told the Widows of her two sons to return to their families. One did. But Ruth told Naomi she would go wherever Naomi did no matter the consequences. She gave up everything in order to remain loyal and to practice Love. In Return, God blessed Ruth by making her an ancestor the coming Savior of the World.

When Jesus was nearing the end of His Ministry, His Disciples also promised to follow Him wherever He might go. But did they?

We are faced with the same situation today. Many claim they will follow Jesus anywhere, but do they? No. Almost all of us want Jesus when it is comfortable and when it fits in with our lives as we see them. But that is a path that leads to Hell. In order to see the Greatest Blessings from God, we must be willing to give up anything to go anywhere He goes. And then follow through on that willingness.

Have you ever wanted to be on TV or in the Movies? Sadly, that seems to be a national obsession right now. But Jesus calls us to be ordinary, every day people.

He led a perfectly normal life in a poor family in one of the poorest regions of the Roman Empire. Just an every day kid. Things changed somewhat when He began His Ministry. But Jesus still did not seek out the spotlight. He simply went about doing the Father's Business.

If we want to be like Jesus, we should be an Every Day Person as well. Be satisfied with wherever God has put you in life. And instead of seek fame and fortune, seek the Kingdom of God. One day you will receive the ultimate reward for doing so.

Judgement Begins...

Peter tells us it is time for Judgement to begin at the House of God. But what is the "House of God"? And what type of will it face?

Join us for Conversations With The Evangelist this morning as we tackle this touch conversation. We will see that the "House of God" is not what we have always been taught that it is. It is not a building built by Men.

We will also see that we have a choice of two Judgements we will face. But that choice ends the moment our bodies fall asleep and we go to stand before God or Jesus returns and calls His Bride Home. So, choose this day Whom you will serve. Before it is too late.

James Carter took two weeks off from doing Outreach Missions Work to marry Melissa Carter and then go on our Honeymoon. But ready to dig in again sharing the Love of God with others.

Hoping to get several things done this week that were put off. And we will be bringing you Conversations With The Evangelist with Special Guest The Boss this Saturday morning Live on James Carter's Profile.

Let's discuss the Certainty we have in Christ. When we are fully in Him, we never have to wonder whether He is with us. And so much more can be certain as well.
