The Catholic Business Network of Fort Wayne/South Bend is a non-profit organization of Catholic business people and community leaders sharing in faith, fellowship, prayer and service to our community

. We meet on the First Friday of every month for morning Mass, devotion, networking and the sharing of our faith with one another. Catholic Business Network of Fort Wayne/South Bend goes beyond the typical “networking” meetings, which are primarily focused on developing business contacts and instead, focuses heavily on the continued building and growth of the Catholic Community of the Diocese of Fort Wayne/South Bend. Speakers at our meetings vary tremendously and can include Small Business Owners, civic leaders, Homeschool families, the religious, and members of the clergy. Interesting and timely topics are shared at every meeting, including current events and activities within the Catholic Church and area businesses, along with helpful ways to deepen our faith. Our meetings may vary, including and focusing on such things as:

-----“How to be a Catholic in our secular society”

-----“How to live, deepen, and share our faith with family members, friends, co-workers, and all of those around us in today’s modern world”

-----“How to share our deepened beliefs and knowledge with those wanting to understand more and how to “Invite Catholics Home”

-----“How to build and strengthen our Catholic families, following the image of The Holy Family.”

Now, in 2013, and well into our third year, we look forward to seeing each of you, along with your friends, business associates and family members at our meetings, so, set your calendars for the First Friday of the month to join with us as we share, learn and worship together.our second year

Good article 🙏
“Pride has four species: boastfulness, ostentation, hypocrisy, and ambition. When we see them displayed in others, we find them to be most unattractive. However, we persist in adopting them for ourselves. This is the great paradox of pride. What we find revolting in others, we choose for ourselves. How can we rid ourselves of this foolish and unbecoming vice? There are, fortunately, practical ways in which we can turn each one of these four species of pride aside… “

There are nearly 500,000 college athletes, and of those, about 2% will embark in a professional sports career. The others will, as the NCAA says, “go pro in something other than sports.”

Landry Weber, a 23-year-old wide receiver for Kansas State University’s football team, will soon be going “pro” in something very different from the gridiron: he’s entering seminary and hopes eventually to be ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.

Fasting is an indispensable part of the spiritual life during the entire liturgical year, but most especially during Lent when it is emphasized as a universal prescription for all Catholics.

When we fast we follow Jesus out into the desert. We fight the devil and temper the flesh. In order to do this the Church lays out universal fasting norms for everybody. On Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, all Catholics over the age of fourteen abstain from meat, and those over the age of seventeen and under sixty fast. (That is, they limit themselves to one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal.) Then, every Friday is a day of abstinence from meat.

Along with that, all Catholics are encouraged to take up personal habits of fasting, (along with prayer and almsgiving,) in ways that are tailored to their own attachments, personalities, and states of life.
