Title: Instruments for Good

If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them. James 4:17

Today's Scripture & Insight :
Ephesians 2:4-10
The criminal had been apprehended, and the detective asked the perpetrator why he had brazenly attacked someone with so many witnesses present. The response was startling: “I knew they wouldn’t do anything; people never do.” That comment pictures what is called “guilty knowledge”—choosing to ignore a crime even though you know it is being committed.

The apostle James addressed a similar kind of guilty knowledge, saying, “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them” (James 4:17).

Through His great salvation of us, God has designed us to be agents of good in the world. Ephesians 2:10 affirms, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” These good works aren’t the cause of our salvation; rather, they’re the result of our hearts being changed by God’s Holy Spirit taking up residence in our lives. The Spirit even gives us spiritual gifts to equip us to accomplish those things for which God has recreated us (see 1 Corinthians 12:1-11).

As God’s workmanship, let’s yield to His purposes and the empowering of His Spirit so that we can be His instruments for good in a world that desperately needs Him.

Reflect & Pray:
Review 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 and read about the spiritual gifts. What gifts has the Spirit given you? How can you exercise them?
Loving God, thank You for the salvation You’ve provided as a free gift of grace. Please give me the courage and wisdom to know how best to serve You and others.

Hello Harvester Friends!
The central region will be having a prayer meeting today at 3pm.

Here’s the invite:

Dear everyone,

We are excited to extend an invitation to come pray with us. With Middle and High School Camp coming to an end, we want to take some time to thank the Lord for what He has done and will continue to do in each of those students that participated.

Also, to pray for the younger generations that are making a connection with Christ. This is just one of many things we can pray about together.

Join us on Tuesday, July 2 at 3:00 PM. We look forward to praying with you!

Hello Harvester Friends!
As we approach the end of the middle of the week, begin to unwind and prepare for the last half of our week. I wanted to share a short devotional with you all. I hope it is as edifying to your life as it was to mine. If you’re in need of prayer out inbox and comments are always open for you to reach out. Blessings to you all!

Topic: God of Freedom
Memory Verse: I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt. Exodus 3:10

Today's Scripture & Insight:
Exodus 3:1-10
President Abraham Lincoln had emancipated people held in slavery two-and-a half-years earlier and the Confederacy had surrendered, yet the state of Texas still hadn’t acknowledged the freedom of enslaved persons. However, on June 19, 1865, Union army general Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas, and demanded that all enslaved persons be released. Imagine the shock and joy as shackles fell off and those in bo***ge heard the pronouncement of freedom.

God sees the oppressed, and He’ll ultimately announce freedom for those under the weight of injustice. This is true now just as it was true in Moses’ day. God appeared to him from a burning bush with an urgent message: “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt” (Exodus 3:7). He not only saw Egypt’s brutality against Israel—but He also planned to do something about it. “I have come down to rescue them,” God declared, “and to bring them . . . into a good and spacious land” (v. 8). He intended to declare freedom to Israel, and Moses would be the mouthpiece. “I am sending you to Pharaoh,” God told His servant, “to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt” (v. 10).

Though God’s timing may not happen as quickly as we hope, one day He’ll free us from all bo***ge and injustice. He gives hope and liberation to all who are oppressed.

Reflect & Pray:
How have you seen God work to help the oppressed? How does He invite you to participate in His work?
Dear God, there’s so much oppression in the story of our world. It’s easy to despair. Please help me stay attuned to Your intention to announce freedom.
