A Reflection and Thank You
From the Desk of the Senior Chaplain

As I reflect on this year’s Banquet Gala, my heart is filled with gratitude, encouragement, and hope for the future of the Allen County Jail Chaplaincy. Looking around the room and seeing political leaders, church leaders, community partners, volunteers, donors, and individuals who genuinely care about the work of the Chaplaincy was both humbling and inspiring.

The evening was a powerful reminder that this ministry does not stand alone. It is strengthened by a community of people who believe in offering hope, extending grace, and investing in the lives of those we serve. Your presence, support, and partnership reaffirm that together we can continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of incarcerated individuals, their families, and our community.

I want to personally thank each of you for your sacrifice of time, your financial support, your prayers, and your unwavering commitment to this ministry. Thank you for taking this journey with me and with us as we continue to minister the redemptive love of God through a ministry of presence, reminding people that we are truly “Here to Help.”

A special thank you to Chaplain Elisha Harris for serving as our keynote speaker. Your words were heartfelt, inspiring, and a true blessing to everyone in attendance. Thank you to Darius Darling Ministries for leading us in such powerful praise and worship and helping set an atmosphere that honored God throughout the evening.

Thank you to our sponsors, whose generosity helps make this work possible. Thank you to our Board of Directors for your guidance and leadership. Thank you to our dedicated staff and volunteers who faithfully serve day after day, often behind the scenes, making an impact that cannot always be measured.

Most importantly, we give all honor, glory, and praise to God. It is through His grace, provision, and faithfulness that the Allen County Jail Chaplaincy continues to grow, serve, and reach those who need hope the most.

As we move forward, we do so with renewed vision, strengthened partnerships, and a steadfast commitment to the mission before us.

Thank you for believing in the work. Thank you for believing in the people we serve. Thank you for standing with the Allen County Jail Chaplaincy.

With sincere gratitude,

Dr. William A. Curry Jr.

Reflection – Resurrection Sunday

As we have journeyed through Holy Week and now arrive at Resurrection Sunday, we are reminded of the path Jesus walked.

He endured betrayal.
He wrestled in prayer in Gethsemane.
He was dragged from court to court.
He was beaten with the cat of nine tails.
He carried His cross up Calvary’s hill.
He was nailed to the cross between two thieves.

In that moment, He felt the weight of separation as He cried out,
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46, NKJV)

He was denied by Peter—the one called “the rock.”
The disciples scattered.
His mother watched in sorrow.

And there He hung—between heaven and earth—
for a crime He did not commit,
yet for a people He came to redeem.

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities…” (Isaiah 53:5, NKJV)

He died on Friday…

But early Sunday morning, He got up with all power in His hands.

“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.” (Matthew 28:6, NKJV)

As you go through this day, reflect on all that God has done for you.
Not everything we go through is easy.
Some seasons are heavy. Some roads are hard.

But through it all—God has kept us.
And even now—He is still keeping us.

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” (Psalm 34:19, NKJV)

So today, we do not just remember the cross—
we celebrate the victory.

May this Resurrection Sunday be filled with:
Love.
Joy.
Peace.
And Hope.

Because the same power that raised Jesus from the dead…
is still alive and working in us today.

“And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you…” (Romans 8:11, NKJV)

Happy Resurrection Sunday.

-Dr. William A. Curry Jr.
