PEACE IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM
“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” Psalm 56:3 (KJV)
If you are in the path of this hurricane, you may be feeling frightened, overwhelmed, or unsure of what lies ahead. Perhaps you are securing your home, gathering supplies, checking on loved ones, or making difficult decisions about whether to evacuate. In this urgent and uncertain moment, please know that you are not facing it alone. Your Calvary Baptist Church family is praying for you.
As the winds rise and the forecasts change, fear can quickly take hold. Yet even now, God is near. We may not know what the storm will bring, but we know the One who holds us through it.
In Mark 4, we read about the disciples caught in a terrible storm. The wind was fierce, the waves crashed into their ship, and fear began to consume them. Yet, in the midst of all that chaos, Jesus was asleep.
When the disciples awakened Him, crying out in fear, Jesus arose and spoke three simple words:
“Peace, be still.” — Mark 4:39 (KJV)
And immediately, the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
What a beautiful reminder that the same Savior who commanded the winds and waves is the very same Savior who watches over us today!
God never promised that we would live a life without storms. He never said we would be spared every hardship, every loss, or every frightening circumstance. But He did promise that we would never have to face them alone.
Isaiah 41:10 reminds us:
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
What a comfort to know that our peace does not depend on the weather outside, but on the presence of the Lord within our hearts.
As we prepare for this hurricane, let us be wise in our preparations, careful in our decisions, and faithful in our prayers. Please follow all official evacuation orders, monitor emergency alerts, and heed guidance from local authorities and safety officials. Let us check on our neighbors, encourage those who are anxious, and extend a helping hand wherever there is a need.
And above all, let us remember:
🌿 The storm may be powerful, but our God is Almighty.
🌿 The winds may be unpredictable, but His faithfulness is unchanging.
🌿 The waves may rise, but His promises will never fail.
Our prayer is not simply that the storm will pass us by, but that through whatever comes, our hearts will remain anchored in Christ.
Because true peace is not the absence of a storm. It is the assurance of God’s presence in the middle of one.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear…” Psalm 46:1–2 (KJV)
❤️ From your Calvary Baptist Church family, we are praying for you. Stay safe, trust the Lord, and remember that you are never alone.
