DON'T WASTE A GOOD SEASON

Nobody builds a habit while life is falling apart. Practice praying before you panic.

Think of the friend who only calls when they need something. Learn to talk to Jesus when you need nothing.

Anxious all the time? Mad in seconds? That's burnout. Practice Sabbath before you're empty: one 24-hour block, phone off, work down, people you love.

Every year has a season that wrecks you. Summer, the first week of school, December. Practice quiet before the chaos lands.

For so many people, their job, their marriage, and their kids are falling apart. The sad thing is that no one is in their corner with them. Build community before crisis.

Twenty minutes of sleep costs nothing when you're rested. Don't waste green pastures. That's where you learn who Jesus is.

What we learn on the mountain is how we'll live in the valley. When it gets hard, we'll already know where to find Him. So what could you start now?

WHAT YOUR CALENDAR IS DOING TO YOUR FAITH

We walked into the valley on Monday, and we're ready to be done. There's a tournament this weekend, work piling up, and the ballpark Thursday night.

Our prayers start sounding like deadlines. God, can You hurry this up a little?

Hard seasons don't fit our schedule, so we rush to the other side.

Jesus isn't in a hurry. We're sprinting through the valley, and we've left Him behind.

For a lot of us, the hurry never stops. We never slow down long enough to diagnose the valley in the first place.

Some of us feel like we're in a valley. In reality, we just need a nap.

Dallas Willard said it like this: Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.

Maybe we just need to stop, take a breath, and slow down.
