All next week a regular contributor to the Little Free Pantry on Charlesvoix street behind St. Luke's will be away, and we need someone to srep up and contribute. That person normally puts in a can of chunky soup, a can of spaghetti, a can of tuna, some starch like Rice-a-roni or instant potatoes, and sometimes breakfast bars , a loaf of bread and a vegetable such as a cabbage or a few pieces of fruit. I hope others in the community will step up to help fill the gap. Also, St. Luke's Episcopal Church Fort Valley is looking at expanding food offereings in some way, so let us know if you have any ideas!

St. Luke's, through the work of Julie Groce, Appleton Missioner for the Diocese of Atlanta, has been awarded $50,000 to have professionals make plans for restoration of the church building. St. Luke's was built in 1939 at the time when the Episcopal church allowed the Fort Valley State College, once the Fort Valley High and Industrial School ,to become part of the University System of Georgia.

What's going on at St. Luke's?

We meet at 9:30 for Bible Study most weeks. We have a Morning Prayer service at 10:15 when a priest is not availble to serve communion. When we do have a priest, we meet at 11 am. The church sign will be updated by Wednesday each week to announce the time of the next service.

Behind the church on Charlevoix St. is our Little Free Pantry where you may donate nonperishables, fruits, and vegetables. Those in need may take from the pantry. Donors and recipients are anynymous.

We welcome all, and especially college students, neighborhood children, and others interested in worshipping with us. We use a prayerbook, a hymnal, and a leaflet with readings, and a church member will be glad to assist..

In December, we had a celebration for Rev. Brian Davy and Sue. On January 1, Rev. officiated at his last service as our Rector before his retirement. They have promised to come back to visit us, and we wish them a happy and fun-filled retirement. The Macon Convocation and the Diocese of Atlanta are offering advice as we move to our next chapter. All are welcome at St. Lukes!

The Little Free Pantry behind St. Luke's still has plenty of customers. Try to buy non-perishables plus things like bread and vegetables when you go to the store and go by and put them in to help people who are hungry.
Dry beaans are not a good idea. Our patrons don't take them and sometimes delinquents throw them all over the street . :(
