As I reflected about Psalms 122:1 - I was Glad. I began to think about what it was that made me glad.
As I was growing up, doing things that I enjoyed made me glad. Things like fishing, hunting and hanging out with friends.
In Psalms 122:1 David talks about being glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. That privilege, that freedom to worship should make us “glad” above all things.
Attending Church should also make us glad. The word glad here means “to cause to rejoice”, so, what should cause us to rejoice? Let me give you a few ideas.
1.We get to hear God’s Precepts - One of the primary reasons we come together is to hear and DO what God’s Word says. Every service we have is a God given opportunity to share His Word. What should stir you heart is hearing the doctrines of the Bible preached.
2. We get to give thanks to the Lord - We have time to reflect on all God has done for us, where we were in life and where God has us to today. We have the joy of praising Him and thanking Him.
3. We get to have fellowship with family - In life family is connected by blood, as believers we are all connected by the Blood of Jesus and we get to come together and praise Him. We get to share with each other and be an encouragement to one another.
4. We get to Glorify God, Who is “I Am that I Am”. He who has no beginning and will have no ending. He is the Covenant Keeping One, Who is always faithful and true. We Glorify Him because we love Him, because He saved us, because He promised us a Home with Him in eternity.
So, let the fact that we get to Glorify God, have fellowship with family, give thanks to the Lord and hear His Word give you “cause to rejoice.” We invite you to Worship with us at First Baptist Church, Fort Stockton. May God Bless you as you live a faithful life.
