When a Hummingbird Spoke to Me (Not Literally)
I was sitting out on the patio Sunday morning having a cup of coffee watching a Hummingbird. It is amazing how God shows truth through nature, even something as small as a Hummingbird.
We have two feeders hanging on the edge of the patio ceiling. Each one has 4 spots they can feed on. This one little bird would fly from spot to spot giving each one a try. Some he would stay at longer while others just a touch. It was like he was searching for that one spot that would suit him the best, the one that satisfied his hunger and desires. Guess he found that one because he finally settled down at one spot for at least a minute or so and that is a good while for a Hummingbird to be still.
Watching that little bird reminded me how many people are today. They move from Church to Church, from denomination to denomination, from one system of belief to another system, looking for that very one that fits their desired lifestyle. In their searching they can’t find peace or joy. They are like that little bird flying from one to another, searching.
Let me tell you how you can end the search. Settle down in the Truth, the Bible, the Word of God. You see, it’s not about you searching through churches, denominations, and systems that will satisfy your desires, but it’s about fitting your life into the Truth of God’s Word. When you finally realize that and settle down in Jesus then you will find peace, joy, and purpose for your life. Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father but by me.”

In Exodus 20 the people had experienced the power of God as the thundering, lightning, sound of the trumpet and the smoking around the mountain as Moses came down with the Ten Commandments. Then in verse 19 the people said to Moses: You speak with us and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die. Moses responded in verse 20: Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.
Amazing thing about God, He never tires in bringing people to believe in and trust Him. God had already done some pretty amazing things in their life. What He did in Egypt, that should have been enough. How He led them through the Red Sea, surely that would have been enough, but now another great display of His power. God never tires in showing His Power, His Grace and His Love to you. Over and over, in your life, God has done amazing things. He has saved you for all eternity, which not one of us deserve. He has protected you at times when you were not aware. He has provided for you when you saw no way out; He has always kept His promises. God has gone over board in showing Himself to us, but never for the sake of just doing, He always has a purpose. God wants us to have a healthy fear and respect for Him and trust in Him so we can accomplish His will in this world.
Psalm 34:8-9 tells us; Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trust in Him! Oh, fear the LORD you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.
