Fort Stewart Traditional Service

Fort Stewart Traditional Service This congregation has a rich history of supporting the Marne community for decades. As a body we wish to bless the Marne community with the joy of the Lord!

We emphasize those enduring things associated with classical christianity that enable us to know God and make God known, bringing Soldiers and families to God and God to Soldiers and families. Marne Chapel Traditional Protestant Service Mission Statement

As an expression of the church in the Army we exist to glorify God by enjoying Him through our continued service to our Nation. We are a mature

and growing congregation learning to live our faith in Christ together. The cornerstone of our fellowship is the good news of Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins, was buried and on the 3rd day rose again. We believe that we are saved by God’s grace alone through faith in Christ alone to the glory of God alone. We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are God’s infallible and inerrant Word providing the only standard for Christian faith and practice. This is a church that sees all people created in the image of God, fallen in sin and need of God’s grace and mercy, to include our pastors. This church affirms God’s good, created order in marriage and family and freedom. In this day people need just a little bit of hope and healthy connection to God and to one another. It is our joy to provide an opportunity for Chrisitan encouragement, not just on Sunday, but throughout the week as we trust God and faithful use our gifts. We emphasize those enduring things associated with classical, biblical Christianity that enable us to know God and make God known, bringing Soldiers and families to God and God to Soldiers and families. We believe that every member of the church has been given gifts by God to be used in faithful service. We are a church learning to be faithful with the gifts He has given us. Gifts of music, leadership, administration, teaching, evangelism, preaching, faith, and hospitality to name a few. As a body we are seeking to grow in grace and develop in service to the glory of God. What our worship is like:

We emphasize those enduring things associated with classic Christianity. We approach God in a structured way that gives freedom of movement, involving the movements of praise and adoration, invitation and recitation of the faith, followed by confession, offering, welcome, public readings of the Scriptures, intercessory prayer, and preaching. We seek to emphasize the big picture of Scriptures by using every week a reading from the Old Testament, another from the Psalms, then the Epistles, and the Gospel. We celebrate communion once a month. We follow the seasons of the church calendar, which are based on the life of Christ. We use signs and symbols in our worship to reflect the central ideas of the faith
-altar speaks to the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf that saved us from sin, death and hell
-bible on altar-reveals to us God’s guidance and intent
-liturgical color for the season-high light themes connected to the life of Christ and His church
-recitation of the Apostle creed, the earliest written Christian statement of faith, recorded in the mid 200’s AD
-praying the Lord’s prayer every week

Our worship through song is made up primarily Hymns but some contemporary songs on occasion. We are family and community orientated - child and adult school provided after each service.

NOTE: 6 JAN began the season of Epiphany. Epiphany means, “tremendous” revelation. The season of Epiphany reflects on the revelation of Jesus as the Son of God and light of the world.

SCRIPTURE: (13) But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. (14) Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, 'See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.' (15) The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. (16) For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath.(17) But Jesus answered them, 'My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.' (18) Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God (John 5:13-18).

REFLECTION: Jesus reflects the divine character of the Father to forgive, to heal, to restore, to make right. We would not know how good of a Father we have without His revelation in Jesus. Trust in the Father through Jesus by the Holy Spirit. LET US PRAY: Holy Trinity, One God, thank you for being our solid foundation and making yourself know to us so we may walk in your will and walk in your ways to the glory of your name and to our good. In your name I pray, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

ANOTHER PRAYER FOR TODAY:
God, the author of peace and lover of concord, to know you is eternal life and to serve you is perfect freedom: Defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies; that we, surely trusting in your defense, may not fear the power of any adversaries; Father through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord by the Holy Spirit. Amen.-Adapted from ICCEC Prayers Traditional.

NOTE: 6 JAN began the season of Epiphany. Epiphany means, “tremendous” revelation. The season of Epiphany reflects on the revelation of Jesus as the Son of God and light of the world.

SCRIPTURE: (1) On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. (2) Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. (3) And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, 'They have no wine.' (4) Jesus said to her, 'Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.' (5) His mother said to the servants, 'Whatever He says to you, do it.' (6) Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. (7) Jesus said to them, 'Fill the waterpots with water.' And they filled them up to the brim. (8) And He said to them, 'Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.' And they took it. (9) When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. (10) And he said to him, 'Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!' (11) This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him (John 2:1-11).

REFLECTION: God is still turning water into wine! He knows your practical, daily needs. Ask and you will receive it at the appointed time. LET US PRAY: Almighty God, thank you for revealing yourself to us as more than able to accomplish all things, for your kingdom and your glory. In your name I pray, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

ANOTHER PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Give us grace, O Lord, to answer readily the call of our Savior Jesus Christ and proclaim to all people the Good News of his salvation, that we and the whole world may perceive the glory of his marvelous works; Father who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.-Adapted from ICCEC Prayers Traditional.

NOTE: 6 JAN began the season of Epiphany. Epiphany means, “tremendous” revelation. The season of Epiphany reflects on the revelation of Jesus as the Son of God and light of the world.

SCRIPTURE: (48) I am the bread of life. (49) Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. (50) This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. (51) I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world (John 6:33-48).

REFLECTION: Jesus is the bread that sustains us through this life to eternal life, the Holy Spirit enabling, the Father watching over us. God is all we really need. That is the revelation that brings us through the doorway into life in God. It is what Jesus came to reveal as the Son of God. Resist the lies of the world that tell you otherwise. LET US PRAY: Lord, you have received us as we have received, and continue to receive, you. Thank you. Lead us on this day into all you have for us according to your will and way. In your name I pray, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

ANOTHER PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.-Adapted from ICCEC Prayers Traditional.

NOTE: 6 JAN began the season of Epiphany. Epiphany means, “tremendous” revelation. The season of Epiphany reflects on the revelation of Jesus as the Son of God and light of the world.

SCRIPTURE: Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:13-17).

REFLECTION: Jesus came as the Son of God the Father to reveal the fulfillment of God’s design to join us to God by the Holy Spirit. Jesus, the righteous God-Man, baptized Himself to identity with us who are in need of His righteousness. We who are baptized into him by faith receive His righteous and His cleansing grace. Our lives then are an ongoing renewal of our baptism. By the Holy Spirit, be continually renewed. LET US PRAY: Lord Jesus thank you that by the Holy Spirit we are in you and you are in us and bring us to communion with our heavenly father. We rest and follow you confident that you will bring your work in our lives to completion to your Glory. You will be done in us. In your name I pray, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

ANOTHER PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Father in heaven, who at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan proclaimed him your beloved Son and anointed him with the Holy Spirit: Grant that all who are baptized into his Name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess him as Lord and Savior; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.-Adapted from ICCEC Prayers Traditional.

NOTE: 6 JAN began the season of Epiphany. Epiphany means, “tremendous” revelation. The season of Epiphany reflects on the revelation of Jesus as the Son of God and light of the world.

SCRIPTURE: Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising (Isaiah 60:3).

REFLECTION: Only in and the through one who is the light of God, Jesus, can we see things as they truly are. Live into the light of God. LET US PRAY: God, thank you for filling us with your light and life, may we live daily more fully into you and your ways. In your name, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

ANOTHER PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day: Preserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord, by the Holy Spirit. Amen.-Adapted from ICCEC Prayers Traditional.

NOTE: Today is the day of Epiphany. Epiphany means, “tremendous” revelation-the revelation of Jesus for both Jews and Gentiles!

SCRIPTURE: “After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed (Matthew 2:9-10).

REFLECTION: The wise men, or Magi, though not Jews, were drawn to the star that announced the coming of a King. Why this particular King would drawn them from so far away is itself something to ponder, but the greater point is that God’s desire was and is to draw all men and women to Himself through King Jesus. Jesus for Jews and Gentiles, together making us one people in Him, one Body, for the whole world, for all time, drawing us not only for a moment in time but for our lifetime. Praise God! LET US PRAY: God, thank you for drawing us daily to yourself as one people, enable us to heed your call to you. In your name, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

ANOTHER PRAYER FOR TODAY:
God, by the leading of a star you manifested your only Son to the peoples of the earth: Lead us, who know you now by faith, to your presence, where we may see your glory face to face; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Father who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.-Adapted from ICCEC Prayers Traditional.
