Sometimes the journey takes longer than expected. Sometimes God changes the route. But if He placed a dream in your heart, don’t stop believing. Keep moving forward. Your next chapter may be closer than you think. ❤️

What I Saw Growing Up

When I think back on my parents’ marriage, I don’t remember much physical affection between them.

Occasionally I might see my dad brush up against my mom or stand close to her, but I don’t remember them being openly affectionate with each other.

What I remember much more clearly was the emotional atmosphere in the house.

The way my father spoke to my mother sometimes was painful to witness. He could be harsh, critical, and dismissive, and there were times when he would put her down in front of others.

As a child, those moments were confusing and disturbing for me.

I remember wondering why my mother allowed him to speak to her that way.

In my young mind, I made a quiet promise to myself.

I would say,

When I grow up, I will never allow anyone to treat me like that.

But life has a way of repeating patterns we don’t fully understand yet.

As I got older, I found myself in relationships that carried some of the same emotional struggles I had seen growing up.

Not exactly the same, but close enough that I eventually realized something important.

Sometimes the things we promise ourselves we will never become are the very things we unconsciously walk toward.

Not because we want them.

But because they are what we learned.

It took many years of reflection, healing, and faith for me to understand that truth.

And it took even longer for me to begin breaking those patterns in my own life.

Fear Didn’t Win

For years, fear ruled her life.

Fear of rejection.
Fear of failure.
Fear of not being enough.

She carried pain no one could see…
made choices she didn’t understand…
and lived a life that looked whole on the outside,
but was breaking within.

But this is not a story about defeat.

This is a story about survival.

About losing… and still choosing to love.
About falling… and still finding the strength to rise.
About walking through darkness… and discovering faith.

Inside these pages, Melissa Johnson shares her raw, unfiltered truth—

✨ Childhood wounds
✨ Love that was complicated
✨ Addiction hidden behind strength
✨ A dream that revealed purpose
✨ And the moment everything changed

Because in the end—

Fear didn’t win. Faith did.
