Our mission is to show His goodness by helping the hurting when life's hardest challenges arise while demonstrating God's goodness through ministry and consistency.

During hard seasons of life, we respond with caring, effective, and

locally-focused programs. We meet the immediate needs of those we serve and implement a care plan for long term needs. We love to empower our partners to truly be the hands and feet of Jesus to the least of these.

Healing doesn’t always look the same.

At the Hope House, recovery is about more than staying sober. It’s about healing, building healthy routines, learning responsibility, growing in your faith, and finding peace in places you may not expect.

For Tyler, sometimes that place is the chicken coop. 🐓

There are a lot of different ways God can use the ordinary things in life to help put us back together.

This is what recovery can look like.

RECOVERY MONTH | CHRIS’S STORY

“I used to shoot drugs in this building. Today, I’m the Director of the Hope House.”

Before this building was the Hope House, it was a motel. And long before Chris Tilley ever imagined helping men find recovery, he spent time inside these same walls using drugs.

This is his story.

“My mom left when I was two years old, and I grew up feeling unloved and believing I wasn’t worth much.

As I got older, I found something that couldn’t heal that pain, but could numb it.

Drugs.

Addiction took me into criminal activity, homelessness, trap houses, living in the woods, and eventually to a place where I truly didn’t care whether I lived or died.

Then I was introduced to Jesus.

I didn’t immediately trust God. I was angry with Him, too. If God had the power to stop everything I had experienced, why had He allowed it?

One day in a prayer closet, I stopped giving God the religious answer and told Him exactly how I felt.

And He met me there.

The drugs had numbed my pain. Jesus touched the place the pain was actually coming from.

He began changing how I saw myself. The little boy who felt unwanted wasn’t worthless. The addict who had given up on his life wasn’t beyond saving.

Today, God has brought my story full circle.

I now serve as Director of the Hope House in the very building where I once used drugs.

Now I get to look men in the eyes and tell them what I desperately needed someone to tell me:

You are loved. You have worth. And your story isn’t over.

Recovery isn’t simply staying off drugs. It’s becoming the man God created me to be.

The man who once used drugs in this building now gets to help other men find freedom inside these same walls.

Only God could write that story.”

If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, there is still hope.

Need to see a doctor but don’t have medical insurance?

The Marked For Life Medical Center will be open tomorrow, and all services are 100% FREE for those who qualify.

📍 917 Godfrey Ave. S., Fort Payne
🕟 We begin accepting patients at 4:30 PM

Our Medical Center provides basic healthcare services for local residents who do not have access to medical insurance, including:

• General medical care
• Preventative care and health screenings
• Health education and resources
• Referral services when additional care is needed

There is no charge to be seen and no insurance is required. Our goal is simple: to make sure our neighbors have access to basic healthcare when they otherwise may have nowhere to turn.

To qualify, patients must be local residents without access to medical insurance.

If you know someone who could benefit from these services, please share this post with them. Sometimes helping someone starts by simply making sure they know help is available.

“Someone might consider me a Jesus freak now, but you should’ve seen me then.”

September is National Recovery Month, and throughout this month we’re sharing real stories from people who know firsthand that recovery is possible.

We’re starting with Kelli Tumlin, our Director of Programs.

Before October 1998, my life was chaotic, but predictable. Every day looked about the same.

I was living the life of two different people. I was one person during the day and another at night. At the time, I thought that was normal because it was all I had ever known.

Eventually, I hit a wall.

Today, I’m thankful for that wall because it brought me to an altar where I met the man who changed my life forever.

His name is Jesus.

I was delivered from drugs and alcohol, but I learned that was only the beginning. I still had to begin the lifelong process of renewing my mind, learning who I was to Him, and realizing that a life of peace was actually available to me.

For years, I went to church anywhere I could find it. If you came anywhere near me, there was a pretty good chance I was going to tell you what the Lord had done for me.

Over the years, I’ve learned that recovery is a daily choice. For me, it’s choosing to believe in Someone bigger than myself and living a life of surrender.

God delivered me from drugs and alcohol, but He didn’t stop working on me there.

Now, more than 27 years later, I have the privilege of walking alongside others as they begin their own journey and helping them discover who Jesus is and what is available to those who dare to believe.

Recovery is a daily decision. Jesus changed everything for me.

Sometimes the person answering the call knows exactly what it feels like to make one.

Taylor first came to Marked For Life as a student. Today, he’s part of our team and helps answer the Hope Line for neighbors who may be facing some of the same situations he once faced himself.

His story is a reminder of why we believe so strongly in walking with people beyond the immediate crisis.

Take a minute and hear Taylor’s story.

And if you or someone you know needs help, our Hope Line is available 24/7 at 888-789-HOPE (4673).

Sometimes serving looks like folding freshly washed towels. 🤍

At the Hope Center, every person who comes in for a shower is given a fresh, clean towel and the opportunity to feel cared for. It may seem like a small task, but these are the simple acts of service that help people feel seen, valued and loved.

Our volunteers make moments like this possible every day.

A life surrendered. A new beginning. A public declaration that the past no longer has the final word.

At Marked For Life Ministries, we don’t just want to meet immediate needs. We want every person who walks through our doors to encounter the life-changing love of Jesus and discover the freedom, restoration and purpose found in Him.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
