Dear Friends.
Last week we celebrated Purim together, remembering the strength of our people. Our strength is shown not only through the bravery of our soldiers, pilots, and fighters but also through our great ability to support each other. We read in Megillat Esther—the book of Esther—that "the opposite happened” (Esther 9:1) v’nahafoch hu. Whatever was planned against us, we turned into an opportunity; the Jews stood against the evil Haman and overcame the threat. It is now time to stay united and support Israel
Bayamim hahem, uvaz’man haze, “in this time, in those days.” This inspiring story is reflected in our own actions.
As a congregation, we stand for our people, for Israel, and the U.S., and we are committed to turning this threat into an opportunity.
We encourage you to support one of our families in the Temple, whose relatives’ house was hit by an Iranian ballistic missile last week. Baruch Hashem, they are physically fine, but their house was heavily damaged by the explosion. The Israeli government is placing these people in different hotels around the country. However, the future seems uncertain regarding the apartment, the building, and nobody knows when they will be allowed to go back home, if at all.
We have opened an “Israel Fund” for people who want to support a family in Israel that is struggling with the devastating consequences of this war. We will transfer all donations to Israel to ensure our support reaches the family. Temple Judea has opened a PayPal link for online donations (see the attached link). You can also send a check to the Temple. Please make sure the memo indicates “Israel Fund.”
Whenever people ask what they can do to support Israel during these challenging times, this is a perfect opportunity to show your support. All donations, regardless of amount, will be gratefully accepted.
During services, we will continue praying for the success of this important mission, hoping for the safe return of all our soldiers, and sending our thoughts to millions of Israelis who are demonstrating incredible resilience and resistance.
Todah Rabbah, Thank you very much.
