💛 OCTOBER MISSION OF THE MONTH | ISAIAH 117 HOUSE

This month, our Mission of the Month is

Isaiah 117 House provides physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting foster placement. In the middle of difficult and uncertain circumstances, this ministry helps meet practical needs while showing the love and compassion of Christ.

Throughout October, a portion of every dollar given at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church will help support this important ministry and the children and families it serves right here in our community.

Please join us in praying for the children entering foster care, for the families who welcome them, and for the staff and volunteers serving through Isaiah 117 House.

Not everybody can be a foster parent, but everybody can do something. Thank you for helping us support this ministry as we seek to be sent with the gospel and love our community well.

The world is watching. Are we pointing them to Jesus?

On Sunday, Pastor Reid challenged us from Ephesians 4 to walk worthy of the calling we've received.

Following Jesus isn't simply about what we believe or what we say on Sunday mornings. It should change the way we live on Monday, the way we speak to others, the way we respond when we're hurt, and the way we treat people who may never step foot inside a church.

We're called to put off the old and put on the new. To speak truth. To show kindness. To forgive as Christ has forgiven us.

And here's something worth considering today: Someone in your life may be learning what it means to follow Jesus simply by watching you.

May our lives reflect the Savior we proclaim.

We weren't meant to walk through the Christian life alone. 💛

Sunday mornings are a wonderful time to gather in worship, but growing in our faith doesn't stop when we leave the sanctuary.

Wednesday nights give us an opportunity to slow down, open God's Word together, ask questions, and encourage one another as we learn what it means to follow Jesus in our everyday lives.

And just as importantly, we pray.

We bring our burdens, our struggles, our families, and our community before the Lord. We lift one another up, celebrate answered prayers, and are reminded that we belong to a church family that cares.

In Ephesians 4, Paul reminds us that we are one body, called to walk together in humility, love, and unity. That's not something we're meant to do from a distance. We need one another.

What does it look like to truly live as a Christian in a world that looks a lot like ancient Ephesus? This week, Pastor Reid walked us through Ephesians 4, challenging us to walk worthy of the calling we have been given, not just in name, but in how we speak, react, love, and treat the people around us.

The world is watching. Someone in your life is walking in and out of false temples, searching for fulfillment they will never find there. Your life, lived with heaven in mind, can point them to the only name that offers real hope: Jesus.

As Paul reminds us in Ephesians 4:1, we are called to walk worthy. Not perfectly, but purposefully. Every day is a decision to put off the old man and put on the new. God has been too good for us to live any other way.

Before these pews are filled on Sunday, we're praying for the people who will sit in them.

We're praying for you.

And we'd love for you to join us in praying for our church family.

Heavenly Father,

As we prepare to gather on Sunday, we ask You to prepare our hearts.

Help us set aside the things that compete for our attention. Remind us of who You are and why You alone are worthy of our worship.

Give our pastor wisdom and boldness as he preaches Your Word. Help those leading worship to do so with humble and sincere hearts.

Open our ears to Your truth, reveal the things we need to surrender, and give us the willingness to respond in obedience.

May we come not simply out of habit, but with grateful hearts, ready to worship You together.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

🍂 FALL RESET: RENEWED STRENGTH

“But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength.”
Isaiah 40:31

Rest is not the end of the story. God renews us so we can keep going.

He restores tired hearts, refocuses distracted minds, and reminds us again of what matters most.

As this week comes to an end, think about what God has shown you. Maybe He reminded you to slow down. Maybe He brought something to the surface that needs to change. Maybe you simply needed the reminder that you do not have to carry everything yourself.

We BELIEVE the gospel. We allow God to help us BECOME the people He has called us to be. Then we are BE SENT to live out and share the gospel wherever He places us.

Reflect: Where do you need God’s strength as you step into the days ahead?

Prayer: God, thank You for meeting me this week. Renew my strength, refocus my heart, and prepare me to live faithfully wherever You send me next. Amen.
