Distractions are loud, especially when people are messy or rude. God’s gentle direction is simple: fix your eyes on Jesus. Focus on Him and maintain your peace amid chaos. Negativity can seem justified, but it diverts attention from Christ. The message is clear: avoid toxic thoughts. Choosing to “look to Jesus” is not denial but deciding who guides your mind and actions. Today, practice spiritual focus as trust. Jesus remains steady and can guide your words and choices. The more you focus on Him, the less distractions can shape you. What you fix your eyes on will form you.

What has been most distracting or irritating in your life lately, and how has it been shaping your attitude?

Have you ever felt like you were never quite enough; not pretty enough, not outspoken enough, not listened to enough, just not enough, always feeling less than adequate?

Many Christians are experiencing an identity crisis. They know they are saved, but they do not really know what to think about themselves.

Let us take a little test. Do you consider yourself a “sinner saved by grace” or “a saint who occasionally sins”? Both statements are true, but the first one dwells on your past identity, whereas the second focuses on the Lord’s view of you.

Join us tomorrow as we talk about our identities in Christ and what that means for our lives right now. Bring a friend!

Jesus defines the greatest love as laying down your life for your friends, and He speaks these words while moving toward the cross. Memorial Day reminds us of men and women who accepted the possibility of death so others could live in liberty, and their courage helps us feel the weight of sacrifice in a tangible way. Yet Jesus’ sacrifice is the foundation beneath every other example—perfect love that chose the cross to rescue the undeserving.

Remembering is not just a moment of emotion; it is a decision to value what others paid for and to live in a way that honors that cost. The sermon’s call to “Do Not Forget” invites you to let sacrifice shape your character: gratitude instead of entitlement, humility instead of anger, and service instead of self-protection. Today begins with a simple question: if love is measured by what it gives, what is your life currently giving away for the good of others?

Where have you grown entitled, assuming blessings are automatic rather than costly gifts?

In a world filled with worry and confusion, kids need to know there is a God who cares for them. At Emerald Crossing VBS, they’ll journey through Ireland’s lush landscapes, exploring the powerful words of Psalm 23. They’ll discover the life of the shepherd-king David and will learn how to cross from anxiety to peace, from fear to faith, and from uncertainty to a firm foundation in God’s Word through a relationship with the Good Shepherd.

I Am the Flag

“I am the flag of the United States of America. My name is Old Glory. I fly atop the world’s tallest buildings. I stand watch in America’s halls of justice. I fly majestically over institutions of learning. I stand guard with power in the world. Look up and see me. I stand for peace, honor, truth and justice. I stand for freedom. I am confident. I am arrogant. I am proud. When I am flown with my fellow banners, my head is a little higher, My colors a little truer. I bow to no one! I am recognized all over the world. I am worshipped - I am saluted. I am loved - I am revered. I am respected - I am feared. I have fought in every battle of every war for more than 200 years. I was flown at Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Shiloh and Appomattox. I was there at San Juan Hill, the trenches of France, in the Argonne Forest, Anzio, Rome and the beaches of Normandy. Guam, Okinawa, Korea and KheSan, Saigon, Vietnam know me. I was there. I led my troops. I was dirty, battle worn and tired, but my soldiers cheered me on, and I was proud. I have been burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries I have helped set free. It does not hurt for I am invincible. I have been soiled upon, burned, torn and trampled in the streets of my country. And when it’s done by those whom I’ve served in battle - it hurts. But I shall overcome - for I am strong. I have slipped the bonds of earth and stood watch over the uncharted frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon. I have born silent witness to all of America’s finest hours. But my finest hours are yet to come. When I am torn into strips and used as bandages for my wounded comrades on the battlefield, when I am flown at half-mast to honor my soldier, or when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving parent at the grave of their fallen son or daughter, I am proud. I am the flag of the United States of America.” - Unknown
