Christian Education Month Spotlight Series:

The Rev. DrPaula Lake serves as the Christian Education Director for the 11th Episcopal District.

She is the Associate Pastor at New Bethel AME Church in Lakeland, FL. She serves as an Adjunct Professor at Southeastern University where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in the Barnett School of Ministry and Theology. She also serves as a Doctoral Student Mentor. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida (Bachelors of Arts Degree), The Interdenominational Theological Center (Master of Divinity Degree) and Ashland Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry Degree – Black Church Studies).

Christian Education Nugget: "The late Rev. Dr. Jonathan Jackson, for whom I had the pleasure of serving as his Graduate Assistant all three years at the Interdenominational Theological Center, penned the definition of Christian Education:

“Christian Education is that ministry of the church that undergirds all other ministries of the church.”

Christian education should:

-Be rooted in biblical and theological principles
-Spiritually transforming
-Stretch across all generations to meet individuals where they are
-Enhance Ministry
