Family. God loves the family. He created it. He has a lot to say about it in the Bible. One of those places is Ephesians 6. God’s view of family and that of the secular world come into a cultural conflict. How does “family” look and work in our society in contrast to how God says He created it to work? It all comes down to this-do “God’s Rules Rule”? A Christian response to this is “Yes”. The secular world’s response is “maybe”-- at best. So how does “family” work best? That’s what we are going to seek to find out this Sunday in a message titled “As God Sees It—Family” based on Ephesians 6:1-4. Christians should know and non-Christians need to know how God sees family at it’s best.

Sunday School for all ages begins at 9:00 a.m. followed by a time of Worship and Praise at 10:00 a.m. Our live stream has been down for several weeks but hopefully it will be back on-line this Sunday. In Jesus’ day Rome was not a good place for Christians to vacation or live. It was a city ruled by a nation that was set against Christianity. It was terribly pagan and sinful just the opposite of how Christians were to live. In the Bible book of Ephesians we are cautioned not to live as the Godless people living about us. As in Paul’s day it is not going to be easy for us to live godly lives in our community, city, schools, workplaces, nation and world. Yet that is exactly what Christians are called to do. For this reason the Bible Book of Ephesians becomes as relevant in our day as it was in the day that Rome was throwing Christians to the lions or burning them on stakes to light Rome’s city streets. There’s a saying that encourages us to do as those about us do. You probably know it, “When in Rome do as the Romans do.” But the message for Christians is “When in Rome Do Not ….” do as the Roman’s do or the pagan world does. Come and hear more on this this Sunday.

This week in our 10:00 a.m. Praise and Worship service we will be focusing on living for God in a hostile world. Our minister’s Bible text will be found in Ephesians 4:25-5:20. Of course we also enthusiastically invite you to meet with us for Sunday School where we study the Bible and find it’s relevant lessons for us. The adult study in Sunday School is the book of Galatians at 9:00 a.m. We believe Sunday School is for all ages. We hope to see you in both this week. The Fort Madison Christian Church meets at 1029 48th Street. If you can’t make it in person you may catch our live-stream at 10:00 a.m. For information contact us at (319) 528-8519. Looking forward to having you meet with us in person or online this Sunday.

We worry about most fixations. You just can’t get a fixated person to think your or any other way. But being fixed on Jesus we actually have a more balanced purposeful life. What God wants for our lives is that we should be “Fixed on Jesus”. God knows that when we are “Fixed on Jesus” we will enjoy everything else better and life becomes more satisfying.

When God tells us where not to focus our thoughts and lives He almost always gives the good reasons, benefits of focusing on the spiritual, especially “Fixing on Jesus” as we endeavor to follow Him as Lord.

This Sunday during our Praise and Worship service at 10:00 a.m. we will be looking at how this all works out when we are “Fixed on Jesus”. Our Sunday School classes for kids and adults begin at 9:00 a.m. We hope that you will join us this week. The church facility is located at 1029 48th Street, and you may contact us at (319) 528-8519. You may also catch our livestream at 10:00 on Sundays by searching on fb “Fort Madison Christian Church” .

You are invited to come Sunday and find out how "Unity in Diversity" looks according to the Apostle Paul as he addresses the subject of the ministry and work of the church in the Bible book of Ephesians. We’ll be addressing this idea in a sermon on Ephesians 3:1; 4:1-16. As Christians working together in the local church we will become the church God wants us to be. We are to have “Unity in Diversity”.

The Fort Madison Christian Church is located at 1029 48th Street where there is plenty of off-street parking. But more importantly there is a friendly welcome when you step through the front doors. Sunday School begins at 9:00 and is followed by our Praise and Worship service at 10:00. If you can’t make it to the live service our service is on fb at 10:00 a.m. or any time during the week. For information you may contact us at (319) 528-8519. Looking forward to seeing you Sunday.

Sunday School is for adults as well as kids. In adult small groups we can learn more of God’s will for our lives and encourage one another. This Sunday we will begin a new series of lessons from the Bible book of Galatians. It is not a requirement but if you plan to join us, I might suggest that you read through Galatians 1. If you have the time read the entirety of the short Galatian letter. Hope to see you in Sunday School for Adults tomorrow.
