Father Harry passed away on Monday. A viewing will be held at St. Pius X on Thursday evening (May 26) from 4:00 to 7:00, with a Wake Prayer Service at 7:00 in the Church. His Funeral Mass will be Friday morning (May 27) at 10:00. Fr. Harry W. Ringenberger served St. Pius X Church as parochial vicar from 1990 until 2014, then lived here in active retirement. Fr. Harry celebrated what turned out to be his last Mass here on Easter Sunday. He was born Apr. 16, 1943 in Indianapolis and moved with his family to Fort Lauderdale and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish as a teenager, graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas High School (then called Central Catholic). He entered the seminary immediately after graduation, and was in the second class to graduate from Florida’s seminaries. On May 24, 1969 he was ordained by Archbishop Carroll (our first bishop) in the Cathedral. He taught at Archbishop Curley H.S. and served as supervising principal at Monsignor Pace H.S., both in Miami. Fr. Harry even served as the Miami Dolphins’ team chaplain.
Father Harry lived and served at St. Clement (Wilton Manors), St. Mary Cathedral, Our Lady of the Lakes (Miami Lakes), St. Catherine of Siena (Miami), and St. Bartholomew (Miramar), then was assigned to be the founding pastor of St. Maximilian Kolbe in Pembroke Pines (1983). He will be interred at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery at a later date. We mourn the loss of a dedicated priest and a good man, and we celebrate his entrance into eternal life. Please keep Fr. Harry’s family in your prayers.
