A hard heard truth
Hebrews 6:6 NASB1995
[6] and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.

Speaking to those who sent at the apostle's feet. Who saw the signs who saw the wonders. Who believed because of what they saw and heard there was no turning back if they gave up and what turned them in the first pace to believe.

So what does this have to do with today this is still a sobering warning it's not meant to terrify the faithful but do awaken the careless. The danger is not for a moment a weakness but for harden willing rejection of Christ after falling knowing is truth and walking is truth then denying is truth and walking away.

The warning is real because the steaks are real. You can choose to give up your salvation because of a hardened heart. You cannot lose it but you can choose to give it up.

Spiritual conviction to spiritual responsibility

Hebrews 6:2-4 NASB1995
[2] of instruction about washings and laying on of hands, and the resurrection of the dead and eternal judgment. [3] And this we will do, if God permits. [4] For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,

Yesterday we looked at the fact of spiritual babes in Christ to growing in Christ too growing in spiritual maturity.

These verses along with what we will continue with tomorrow set us up with understanding about spiritual responsibility.

Think about the blessings that God has given you. The teachings, the fellowship, the scripture, the grace, the mercy. Now let your gratitude and your love for God, and your commitment to God be poured out towards others today. That is not forget what He did for us we are to do for others.

Press on to maturity
Hebrews 6:1 NASB1995
[1] Therefore leaving the elementary teaching about the Christ, let us press on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,

The foundation of repentance is what brought you to have an appears heart, an obedient heart and a surrendered heart and you were saved.

Now the Hebrew writer says it's time to leave the elementary teachings and press on the maturity.

So in other words it's time to grow up spiritually. What steps can you take to grow spiritually this week? Better than just considering what steps, what steps will you take to grow spiritually this week?

What’s the meaning of it? When you think of the cross, what is the meaning of the cross? Now, if you had to summarize the meaning in one word, what word would you use? We are to grow up
Hebrews 5:12 NASB1995
[12] For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

To better understand please read in contacts Heb5:10-14

Has this chapter closes out; it closes out with a warning. By this time the Hebrew Christians should have been teachers but they needed spiritual milk or they should have had spiritual maturity. Spiritual maturity is not automatic it requires spiritual practice spiritual discernment spiritual hunger searching for spiritual truth.

Are you committed to growing spiritually and maturity? What steps are you taking to grow? Who are you helping to grow? Who is helping you to grow?

Obedience is learned
Hebrews 5:8 NASB1995
[8] Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.

Here's an interesting thought for today. Jesus didn't learn obedience through being disobedient but through life experience.

Suffering in hardship became the classroom where obedience is perfected. If the sinless Son walked the path, we shouldn't be surprised that God uses all things to shape us as His obedient children.

He had emotions
Hebrews 5:7 NASB1995
[7] In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety.

In this verse you are able to see that Jesus while in the flesh had emotions.

His prayers were not sterile or distance they were soaked in tears. Gethsemane was not an isolated moment. It was a culmination of a life of deep communion with the Father. According to this verse the Father heard Him because of His piety because of His reverence.

God hears your prayers because of your reverence not just because of your emotions. Take your prayers to Him today Knowing He cares for you.

High Priest Forever
Hebrews 5:5-6 NASB1995
[5] So also Christ did not glorify Himself so as to become a high priest, but He who said to Him, “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”; [6] just as He says also in another passage, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”

The father said You are My Son then after His glorification a new priesthood was established and He was the high priest eternally in the order of Melchizedek.

We can rest eternally in the permiance of Christ's priesthood.
